Michael Ilesanmi and Angela Deem are getting closer and closer to the altar on 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? But there are still some things in their relationship that need to be ironed out.
The couple has specifically been going back-and-forth about the prospect of having children. While both have expressed interest in starting a family, Angela learned on the show that she might not be able to give Michael the brood he’s long desired.
Despite previously signaling that it would be a dealbreaker not to have kids, Michael suggested otherwise in a recent episode. However, he told Angela that they might lose his mom’s blessing if they don’t. Fans were left wondering if he really meant that or if his mom is being scapegoated.
Michael really wants to become a father
Michael has repeatedly said on the show that he wants to have a child to carry on his name and legacy. His mother gave him and Angela her blessing under the condition that the Georgia native would reproduce. But Angela has since learned that she basically has zero chances of conceiving naturally due to her age and other issues resulting from menopause.
Angela’s inability to naturally conceive may pose a problem, according to Michael
After seeing her doctor in a recent episode, Angela sat down with Michael to discuss her inability to have naturally have kids and determine how that might impact their relationship.
Michael was disappointed by the outcome but also didn’t want to end their relationship. After some thought, he decided to stick by her side. But he expressed concern that his mother wouldn’t be happy about it.
So far, they have not yet brought the news to Michael’s mother. But they did share the update with some of his family members in the Aug. 9 episode of Happily Ever After, drawing criticism from his aunt and cousin.
Fans react to Angela and Michael’s sit-down
Though Michael insisted it was a real possibility that his mom might negatively react to the news, some fans believe he was using her as a way to end his relationship.
“Michael using ‘my mom says I can’t come outside and play,’ to get out of marrying Angela is clever clever,” said one Twitter user.
In another tweet, someone else said, “I feel like Michael is using his mom as an excuse to get out or marrying Angela to cover the fact that he doesn’t really want to marry her because of the kid issue. Like he’s trying to use his mom as a scapegoat so he isn’t the bad guy.”
However, others believed Michael and wished him the best in his upcoming conversation with his mom. “Oh boy here we go! I hope Michael’s mom is OK with everything once Angela lets her know what’s going on,” read another tweet.
