’90 Day Fiancé’: Jihoon Lee Claims He’s Still Not Allowed to Visit His Son – ‘When Can I See You Again?’
It’s no secret that the relationship between Jihoon Lee and Deavan Clegg of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way is long since over. Since their very public breakup, Deavan, a 23-year-old mom of two from Utah, and 29-year-old Jihoon, who lives in South Korea, have both hurled multiple accusations at each other.
Jihoon and Deavan were uninvited from the 90 Day Fiancé Tell-All after Deavan accused her ex-husband of abusing her daughter, Drascilla. Jihoon has adamantly denied these allegations.
Meanwhile, Jihoon has taken to social media to defend himself, claiming his estranged wife – who has moved on to a serious relationship with aspiring actor and model Topher Park – refuses to allow him to see their young son, Taeyang. She, too, has repeatedly denied her ex’s claims.
Most recently, Jihoon took to Instagram to accuse his ex once again of denying him visitation with Taeyang. 90 Day Fiancé fans had mixed reactions to Jihoon’s post.
Jihoon posted an old picture of his mother with Taeyang
On November 2, Jihoon shared an Instagram photo of his mother with Taeyang. Clarifying that it was an old picture – most likely from before his separation from Deavan – the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star wrote in the caption, “…when can I see you again?”
Some 90 Day Fiancé fans criticized Jihoon’s choice to make his co-parenting difficulties public. But he defended himself as a father, writing in response: “I just have the right to post a post on social media missing my son.”
Jihoon also joked about the criticism he received, writing lightheartedly to fans, “I humbly accept both criticism and support. But baseless criticism will make you bald with my scissorshand.”
What’s more, Jihoon insisted that he had been working hard to better himself as both a person and a father.
“You’re all right about what anyone says,” he wrote in the comments. “You just have to watch quietly. I’ve been saving money and growing.” The 90 Day Fiancé star added optimistically that, despite his current co-parenting challenges, he was sure that “good news” would arrive soon to help him reconnect with Taeyang.
Some ’90 Day Fiancé’ fans were firmly on Jihoon’s side
Many 90 Day Fiancé fans unequivocally supported Jihoon, arguing that Deavan was simply trying to replace him with her new boyfriend. Many of his followers took his side completely, with many pointing out that Deavan and Jihoon’s son deserved to have a devoted father in his life.
“That’s freakin’ sad,” one fan wrote of Jihoon’s alleged separation from his son. “A son needs his real dad.”
“Especially when Dad wants to be there,” another fan agreed enthusiastically.
Several other 90 Day Fiancé fans suggested that Deavan might be purposely alienating Jihoon from his son in order to start a new life in the U.S. with Park.
“It’s super disgusting that she is posting pics of [Taeyang] with her new bf,” one viewer commented. “So disrespectful.” Still others encouraged Jihoon to get legal counsel and save up money in order to fight for custody of, or at least more visitation with, his young son.
Other fans thought Jihoon was the one to blame
But not all 90 Day Fiancé fans thought Deavan was the only one to blame in the difficult co-parenting situation. Several viewers accused Jihoon of causing his own problems due to his dishonesty about his debt, criminal record, and living situation when Deavan moved to his home country.
“You people need to stop getting manipulated by him emotionally with him being a grown a** man, much older than Deavan, acting like the victim when he’s not,” one fan argued passionately in response to the criticism of Jihoon’s ex-wife. “Deavan gave him so many chances, and he just could not be an adult.”
Other Instagram users argued that Deavan wasn’t keeping Taeyang from Jihoon. Instead, they said, it was the COVID-19 crisis – and associated travel restrictions between the U.S. and South Korea – keeping them apart.
Several viewers also pointed out that Jihoon seemed to be focusing more on Instagram posts and social media content instead of finding a way to see his son. After his breakup from Deavan, Jihoon sought out rhinoplasty and other cosmetic procedures – to which some fans objected, given the seriousness of the situation.
“Instead of spending money on unnecessary surgery…be a responsible adult,” one 90 Day Fiancé fan advised Jihoon. “Make arrangements to meet her at a neutral place with a mediator and someone to translate. Buy a ticket, fly to America, and visit your son. This is what parents that love their children do.”
Of course, many 90 Day Fiancé fans didn’t think either Deavan or Jihoon was solely to blame for the issues at hand. Instead, plenty of fans blamed them both for acting “childish” and putting their son in the middle of their own problems. Several of Jihoon’s followers pointed out that, in the end, there were really “three sides to every story” — Deavan’s, Jihoon’s, and the truth.
