Kalani Faagata and Asuelu Pulaa from the ’90 Day Fiancé’ franchise
Kalani, who is 32, and Asuelu, who is 25, have been a part of the franchise since their appearance in season 6 of the original 90 Day Fiancé. Since then, they’ve been in a number of spinoffs, including Pillow Talk, What Now, a memorable appearance in season 5 of Happily Ever After, and HEA Strikes Back. They can also be seen in discovery+ series called 90 Day Diaries, 90 Day Fiancé: Love Games, and 90 Day Journey. The couple will also be in season 6 of Happily Ever After, which premieres on Sunday, April 25 at 8 p.m. EST on TLC as well as on discovery+.
But how did the couple meet? Kalani and Asuelu actually met on Kalani’s first trip to Samoa in 2016. Samoa is where her father, Low, is from. Asuelu happened to be the activities director at the resort she stayed in.
“He kind of semi-stalked me around the resort, but it was really sweet,” Kalani told the camera in an episode of the original 90 Day Fiancé. “He’d like watch after me when I was swimming in the pool, or if I was walking around. Then one of the nights I saw him shirtless and I was like, ‘OK, this could work.’”
Before they met, Kalani was a virgin. On her second trip to see him, she had sex with him. She ended up pregnant right away with their son, Oliver, who was born in 2018. They had another son as well named Kennedy in 2019. They were married in September 2018.
Kalani Faagata reveals she’s related to someone ‘hanged in the Salem Witch Trials’
On April 19, 2021, Kalani shared an image of herself on social media looking into a mirror while outside. Half her face can be seen as she wears a black ensemble and two hands hold the vintage-looking mirror. Greenery is also pictured in the background and in the mirror in the unique image.
In the caption, Kalani revealed that she’s related to Sarah Wildes, someone who was killed during the Salem Witch Trials in 1692 according to the Salem Witch Museum’s website. Sarah was innocent despite allegations of witchcraft, but she was still killed by hanging along with others. She was later exonerated years later. Sarah is actually Kalani’s 11th great-grandmother according to the 90 Day cast member, which is pretty amazing.
Kalani wrote in the post on Instagram: “I found out recently that my 11th great grandmother, Sarah Wildes, was hanged in the Salem Witch Trials. Such a solemn reminder that powerful women have been terrifying the weak-minded for centuries. What an honor it is to have an abundance of those powerful women as ancestors. I hope they’re proud of what they see—I know I am. 🪞👸🏽🌙.”
It’s pretty interesting to learn this information about Kalani’s ancestors. It’s something many people would be interested to know about their relatives from the past.
