’90 Day Fiance’: David Murphey Says Lana Already Broke Off Their Engagement
It was the shock that shook the nation. On the May 10 episode of 90 Day Fiance: Before the 90 Days, it was revealed that David Murphey’s girlfriend Lana was actually a real person. Most viewers believed that the woman was most certainly a catfish, even a private investigator that Murphey hired told him that Lana had to be a scammer. But everyone who doubted Lana and Murphey was wrong.
David Murphey and Lana’s relationship
Murphey spent a lot of time searching for a Ukrainian wife. In fact, he has been dating Ukrainian women for over a decade.
“I stopped dating in the USA 15 years ago,” he wrote in an Instagram Q&A. “Every time I did I would start thinking about Ukraine, so I stopped trying so my heart was free just in case I went to Ukraine. I have dated well over 100 women in Ukraine. Turned down many marriage proposals and have been turned down twice myself.”
But something about Lana made him want to focus on her. The two had been talking for seven years when the 90 Day cameras showed up and Murphey had already tried to meet her three times. Each time, she made up an excuse as to why she could not meet him. His fourth attempt was filmed for the show and Lana failed to show up once again.
When he returned home, he hired a private investigator to find her.
“I know I got a lot of lies from Lana,” he said on the show. “So I’m hoping the investigator will validate that Lana is who I think she is because I don’t know if I’m ready to find out if my truth is not the truth.”
When his friend Victoria came to translate the investigator’s findings, Murphey was not pleased.
“He truly believes that this is a scam,” Victoria told Murphey of the investigator. “Because when they checked all data and all connections, they find out this girl [has] several dating accounts.”
Murphey refused to believe the investigator and went back to Ukraine. While there, he tried to meet with Lana again. She agreed to meet with him a few days after his arrival.
The engagement and the breakup
As fans of the show probably know by now, scenes from the “Tell All” have been leaked. So, now we know that Murphey proposed to Lana with a cubic zirconia ring, saying that she would get to pick out a real ring later. She accepted the ring and the two got engaged.
Unfortunately, shortly after the engagement, Lana broke up with him. When the “Tell All” was taped, Murphey was unsure of where their relationship stood and hadn’t talked to his ex-fiance in six days.
“Right now, I would say we are not together,” Murphey says on the show. “I’m not going to say we won’t be together in the future. She’s under way too much stress with what’s going on with the show. And the people who bother her. I told her that’s part your fault, you can get off.”
Lana is still on dating websites
Murphey met Lana on a website that connects men with Ukrainian women. Because of this, Murphey says that Lana isn’t allowed to talk to him off of the website or she will be kicked off of the site.
According to Murphey, it is very hard for women to get on the site, so once they are on, they talk to lots of men to increase their chances of getting a K-1 visa. If a woman gets kicked off of the site or if they leave it, they allegedly cannot get back on, so Lana has remained active.
