‘90 Day Fiancé’: A Look Back at Ariela Weinberg and Biniyam Shibre’s Relationship Ahead of Season 9
Ariela Weinberg and Biniyam ‘Bini’ Shibre are back for 90 Day Fiancé Season 9. Here’s a quick refresher of this couple’s journey on the TLC show. They have gone through everything from an unexpected pregnancy to throwing limes. Let’s get into it.
Ariela meets Biniyam while traveling to Ethiopia
Audiences first met Ariela and Biniyam on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 2. On the heels of Ariela’s divorce, she left her home in Princeton, New Jersey, to visit Ethiopia.
And that’s where she met Biniyam for the first time when she was waiting for a taxi. After only three months of dating, Ari found out she was pregnant with Biniyam’s baby.
Ariela has their son, Avi
A pregnant Ariela returned home to New Jersey, where she spent five months with her mother, Janice Weinberg, and her father, Dr. Fredrick Weinberg. Her parents weren’t thrilled when Ariela decided to return to Ethiopia to be with Biniyam and have their baby.
After settling into her new life in Ethiopia, the couple finds a home suitable for them to bring a child into. However, during what the couple thought was a routine exam, Ariela was admitted to the hospital. The doctors told her that their baby was breech. Ariela delivered their son, Avi, via emergency C-section in a local Ethiopian hospital on December 17, 2019.
Biniyam proposes to Ariela
Despite arguing and fighting all day, Biniyam decided it was the right time to propose to Ariela. During a big celebration in the streets of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He gets down on one knee and proposes to Ariela in the middle of a singing choir with a ring inside a lime.
He said, “I put the ring in the lemon because, during Timkat, boys and girls express their romantic interest by throwing lemons.” Despite the fighting, Biniyam is excited to spend the rest of his life with Ariela.
Ariela’s ex-husband comes to visit Ethiopia
At the start of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 3, Ariela reveals that she feels lonely in Ethiopia, away from her family and friends. She invited her ex-husband, Leandro Fosque, to come to visit.
This caused major issues within Ariela and Biniyam’s marriage and her in-laws. Biniyam’s sisters, Wish and Mimi, were upset with Ariela bringing Leandro and didn’t understand their relationship.
Ariela brings Avi to the US for surgery
In season 3, Ariela is faced with a difficult decision after finding out that Avi needs emergency hernia surgery. She decided the best thing to do was to go to the US to get her son the best medical care she could.
However, the downside was that Biniyam had to stay back in Ethiopia due to his visa issues. While in New Jersey with Avi, Ariela received news that her fiancé was throwing parties out of their home in Ethiopia. Hearing that Biniyam is inviting women into their home pushes Ariela to the edge.
Ariela refuses to go back to Ethiopia
At the end of the season, Ariela tells Biniyam that she doesn’t trust him and refuses to go back to Ethiopia. Despite her doubts, she decides to give him another chance, and they decide to meet in Kenya.
After months of being apart, she and Biniyam reunite. Even with the tension in the relationship, they decide to move forward in the process of getting Biniyam to the US. He finds out he needs to go back to Ethiopia for his K-1 visa interview.
Biniyam receives his K-1 visa
On the Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 3 tell-all, Biniyam surprised everyone by being in the New York City studio. He revealed that upon returning to Ethiopia for his interview, his visa was approved.
Soon after, he packed up and moved to Princeton, New Jersey, near Ariela’s family. And that’s where 90 Day Fiancé Season 9 begins; Biniyam and Ariela start their new life in the US together.
In the season 9 trailer, things heat up when Ariela gets wine thrown in her face at a dinner with Binyam’s sisters, Wish and Mimi. It seems like there will be no shortage of drama this season. Fans will have to keep watching to find out what happens next with Ariela, Biniyam, and Avi.
