‘90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’ Season 3, Episode 9 Recap: ‘Fish or Cut Bait’
In episode 9 of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 3, secrets are brought to light as Alina reveals that she knows about Steven’s internet flirtations and Evelin calls out Corey for his lies. Meanwhile, Kenny comes clean to Armando about being homesick, and Sumit confesses his ‘dream’ to Jenny. Here’s the recap of episode 9, ‘Fish or Cut Bait.’
Kenny and Armando
As Kenny and Armando’s wedding gets closer and closer, the pressure is on. After Kenny called his daughters, Cassidy and Madison, he found out Cassidy is having a baby. This made him feel sad about missing his daughter’s entire pregnancy.
Kenny reveals that he’s been hiding his feelings from Armando not to make him feel guilty about him moving to Mexico. He finally told Armando how “homesick” he’s been feeling. He said sometimes being in Mexico makes him feel “all alone.” Armando is worried that Kenny will change his mind about marrying him and staying with him. Kenny explained that he and Armando agreed to live in Mexico so that their daughter, Hannah, could be close to both of her grandparents.
Alina and Steven
It’s the morning of Alina’s mom, Anna’s departure back to Russia. Before leaving Turkey, Anna asked her daughter if she’d like to come back or stay with Steven. Alina told her she wanted to give Steven another chance. Anna is worried that Alina is making the wrong choice because she thinks Steven behaves like a child. After Anna left for Russia, Alina was crying, worried she made the wrong choice by not going with her mother.
Later on, Alina and Steven go to a Turkish bathhouse together, where he apologizes to her for being hypocritical. Alina asks Steven to, once again, delete his social media so that she can see he’s trying to change for her. However, it’s met with another promise and more excuses. Later on, Alina confronts Steven again about why he didn’t delete his social media. She finally reveals the test that she had her friend, Masha, do to him. She said that she “knew everything” about the flirtatious conversation with Masha and how he invited her to Utah and then again in Turkey. Alina thinks that the relationship with Steven won’t work.
Ariela and Biniyam
After spending three weeks in the United States, Ariela is still waiting to get Avi’s hernia surgery. The distance has caused problems for the couple. Since Ariela has left Ethiopia, Biniyam has been going to the clubs every weekend. Ariela can’t get in touch with Biniyam because he turns his phone off or is in “airplane mode” when he doesn’t want to be bothered by Ariela. She thinks that this is a major red flag indicating that he’s hiding something from her. She asks Bibiyam not to turn off his phone until they’re reunited in Ethiopia, he agrees.
While Ariela is in the United States with her family, Biniyam celebrates the traditional Ethiopian holiday, Meskel. He spends time with his friends, discussing how Ariela is asking too many things of him. In the preview for the upcoming episode, Ariela is video chatting with Biniyam. She accuses Biniyam of having sex with someone else. She says, “Who knows who you’ve f—ked.” She tells him that she won’t be returning to Ethiopia until he proves himself.
Jenny and Sumit
It’s day one of Sumit’s mother, Sahna, and father, Anil, moving into Jenny’s home. During these days, Sahna hopes to teach Jenny how to be a traditional Indian housewife worthy of Sumit. The visit only goes from bad to worse as Jenny is forced to cook a traditional Indian meal with Sahna. Because of the language barrier, Jenny doesn’t realize Sahna is insulting her while they are cooking. She tells Jenny how “useless” she is, but Jenny thinks she’s being nice.
During dinner, they discuss what Jenny can expect if she were to become Sumit’s wife. Sahna said that she should be prepared for Jenny to be laughed at and made fun of for her age. She said that people would laugh at her and call her “Sumit’s grandmother.” Jenny starts crying and wipes her nose. Jenny lays the used tissue down on the table, Sahna tells her how “unhygienic” she is. When talking about the long term, how Sumit and Jenny’s relationship will work, Sumit tells his parents how he wants them to stay in his house with Jenny forever. This confession shocks Jenny. She had no idea she wanted to have his parent live with them. And, of course, she’s against the idea.
Evelin and Corey
Corey gets his own apartment after living with Raul for a week following Evelin kicking him out. Corey prepares a nice dinner for Evelin as a peace offering. During the dinner, Evelin and Corey agree to go to a couple’s therapy to work through the problems that Corey’s fling in Peru with Jenny caused.
During the couple’s counseling, Evelin begins crying, recalling the car accident she had during her and Corey’s breakup. She said it hurt that Corey stayed with Jenny instead of coming back and making sure she was alright after being hit by a drunk driver. She called Corey out for being out at dinner with Jenny that night, as she saw on his Instagram Story. He lied until the therapist coaxed him to tell the truth. He admits he was continuing to pursue his relationship with Jenny during the time of the accident.
There are a lot of lies that are being brought to light. Will these couples be able to get past each other’s secrets to continue their hopes of getting married? 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way fans will have to continue watching season 3 to find out if they will stay together or if their secrets will tear them apart.
