90 Day Fiancé Season 9 kicks off on Apr. 17, and fans are more than ready to watch six new couples and one returning couple as they try their hands at international relationships. Kobe and Emily, one of the new couples this season, already share one child, but her family warned her not to get pregnant again. Does the couple heed their advice?

Kobe and Emily met in person before appearing in ’90 Day Fiancé’ Season 9

While most couples who appear in the series meet for the first time in an episode within the season, that’s not the case for Kobe and Emily. Previously, Emily and Kobe both lived abroad in China, where he was an underwear model. The two had a one-night stand, and Emily ended up pregnant as a result. Even though Emily flew back to her home in Kansas to have the baby, she and Kobe promised to make their relationship work.

Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, travel restrictions kept Emily and Kobe apart for almost two years. In 90 Day Fiancé Season 9, the two finally reunite when Kobe moves to Kansas to be with Emily and their son, Koban. Emily’s family, however, is less than thrilled about Kobe and Emily’s plan.

Emily’s parents have concerns about her relationship with Kobe

In a clip from Us Weekly, Emily’s mom expresses her concerns to her daughter at the dinner table. “We all hope it works. We’re all hoping that he’s the great guy that you say he is, but he may be a different person when he comes here.”

Emily’s mom continues to speak with 90 Day Fiancé Season 9 producers, “I don’t know that if covid wasn’t here if Kobe would still be coming. My concern is she’s not head over heels in love with him when he comes, or something’s not the same, and she marries him anyways.”

Emily’s dad tells her, “You’re not going to have the wild life you had in China. He’s going to have to be domesticated very quickly as far as being a dad, taking care of a crazy one and half year old. He’s going to have to be a stay-at-home dad for a while.”

Emily and Kobe promise her family she’s on birth control

Kobe, who originally hails from Cameroon, is not eligible to work in the United States until six months after his arrival. Emily’s dad also worries about how he’ll support the 90 Day Fiancé Season 9 couple and their baby until Kobe can find work.

Emily’s dad issues her and Kobe a stern warning, “OK, I’m picking up the tab for six months. I’m supporting everybody for six months, right? One thing is for sure, you better not get pregnant.”

Emily laughs it off and tells her parents, “I have birth control; I just haven’t taken it yet. It’s fine. We’re not going to have any more kids in this house.”

However, it looks like those might be some famous last words from Emily. In the full-length trailer for 90 Day Fiancé Season 9, one scene shows Emily and Kobe taking a pregnancy test as audiences hear Kobe mutter, “Oh my God,” behind the bathroom door.

Thankfully, fans only have a few more days to wait before 90 Day Fiancé Season 9 premieres on TLC.
