The preview clip, via EW, gives fans some context for the now-infamous wine toss. In 90 Day Fiancé Season 9, Ariela and Biniyam sit down with his sisters, Mimi and Wish, to break the news to them that they’re moving.
After Biniyam finally was granted a K-1 and they plan to move their life from Ethiopia to Princeton, New Jersey. Needless to say, Biniyam’s sisters do not take the news well.
At the start of the clip, Wish tells the cameras that she’s not going to pretend to be happy for them. She says, “She always try to manipulate him. She always control him [sic]. She’s [a] control freak.”
Wish claims that Biniyam has expressed that he’s not happy in his relationship. They are concerned about their brother moving to the US with Ariela.
Wish throws wine in Ariela’s face
Most importantly, Biniyam’s sisters are upset that they kept the move a secret. Wish tells Ariela, “If you thought about us as a family, maybe a heads up would have been nice!” She continues, “Both you and her knew all this time and kept it secret. It sucks.”
Ariela tells her soon-to-be-sisters-in-law, that it was actually her fiancé, Biniyam’s fault that there was a secret in the first place. She claims, “Him not telling you guys has nothing to do with me. It’s nothing to do with me at all!”
Ariela says, “I would never tell him never not to tell his family, that would be so f***ed up on so many levels. I would never do that.”
Wish tells Ariela that they treat her like a sister. Ariela disagrees, saying, “If that’s how you treat your sister, I want nothing to do with it.”
Ariela takes it further, adding, “I’m happy that I’m not going to see you guys anymore. And you know what? I’m not going to marry you guys. I’m marrying Biniyam.” Wish then throws a glass of red wine in Ariela’s face before storming off.
Ariela calls it a ‘new experience’
After Ariela gets wine thrown in her face, she and Biniyam look completely stunned. She is heard in the background saying, “Ow that burns, jeez.” As Wish is storming off down the street, Ariela is processing what just happened.
Ariela shakes the excess wine off her jacket and rubs her eyes. She says, “Oh my god, I’ve never gotten alcohol thrown in my face before.” She tells the cameras calmly, “That’s a new experience.”
