’90 Day Fiancé’: Some Fans Think Tania Maduro’s Behavior In Front of Syngin Colchester’s Family Was Completely Inappropriate for a Health-Related Reason
Tania Maduro and Syngin Colchester had a major showdown of a fight in front of Syngin’s family on a recent episode of TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After.
The couple’s yelling match—in which Tania wondered aloud if she should even stay married to Syngin much longer, given his heavy drinking and lack of direction in life—was jarring to Syngin’s family members, who tried to calm the situation down.
Syngin’s parents warned Tania that she was going too far in her anger. Meanwhile, his brother, Dylan Colchester, and younger sister, Charys Colchester, admitted that they were shocked by the exchange.
Recently, some 90 Day Fiancé fans took to Reddit to point out that Syngin and Tania’s major argument was especially upsetting in light of Dylan’s health condition at the time.
Tania and Syngin traveled to his home country of South Africa to visit Dylan because he’d recently been hospitalized for a blood clot that had traveled to his lung. Some fans argued that Tania should have backed off, given Dylan’s possibly fragile physical state at the time.
Tania’s family appeared shocked by Syngin and Tania’s huge fight
As Syngin and Tania yelled at one another, Syngin’s family seemed appalled. Tania’s father-in-law asked her to “give them a gap” so they could speak more calmly, and asked that she calm down so as not to overpower the conversation.
Meanwhile, Syngin’s mom agreed that Tania might have some valid concerns about her husband’s lack of direction in life. Still, she told 90 Day Fiancé producers that she thought her daughter-in-law went too far in terms of her verbal aggression.
Dylan and Charys, Syngin’s siblings, told TLC producers that they were “surprised” to see what happened between the newlyweds “behind closed doors.” Dylan admitted that he hadn’t known the couple’s issues reached that level. Charys, a teenager, even confessed that seeing the fight made her nervous about her own future marriage.
Some ’90 Day Fiancé’ fans thought Tania’s behavior was uncalled for
After Tania and Syngin’s big showdown in front of his family, some 90 Day Fiancé fans took to Reddit to argue that Tania’s behavior around her in-laws had been completely uncalled for. In particular, some fans criticized Tania’s remarks about racism and “lack of diversity” in South Africa—using Charys as an example of someone who had never been outside her own country before—as particularly rude.
“Watching that gave me secondhand embarrassment,” one Reddit user wrote of the fight. “I felt so bad for Syngin’s parents and his siblings, especially his wonderful sister, who that B*TCH used as an example to claim superiority, as if implying that they’re ‘inferior’ for not being able to meet an American.”
Another Redditor marveled at the fact that Syngin’s parents and siblings were able to stay so calm during the argument, especially when Tania began to yell and cry.
“Syngin’s family was SO incredibly polite to Tania while she was having her meltdown,” they wrote. “I am amazed at their level [of] politeness to her.”
Others pointed out that Tania should have had more respect for Syngin’s brother’s condition at the time
In addition to calling Tania’s behavior “disrespectful” towards her in-laws, some Reddit users pointed out that Dylan, whom the couple had traveled to visit in the first place, was still recovering from a scary injury and time in the hospital. They argued that bringing up marital issues at the time and having a blowout fight was inappropriate, to say the least.
“I really felt terrible for his brother, he was speechless like he couldn’t believe what he was hearing,” one Reddit user wrote regarding Syngin’s brother. “He just got home from the hospital, he almost died! If any of you have spent a couple days in the hospital for anything (he was probably ICU) you know how it drains you, it takes time to revive.”
They added that Dylan had likely hoped to be able to “relax” at a fun family gathering, but instead, he was treated to front-row seats at a marital wrestling match.
Another critic agreed, adding that Tania should have had more care for Dylan’s likely level of physical and emotional stress at the time.
“He looked so stressed, I felt really bad for him!” the 90 Day Fiancé fan wrote.
Another agreed, writing, “Wasn’t it related to a blood clot too? He is probably supposed to relax and stay away from stress.”
Tania ultimately stormed out of the dinner and headed back to her room so everyone could cool down. But, given Syngin’s family’s existing concerns about his relationship with Tania, the tense evening likely didn’t ease their worries.
