‘90 Day Fiancé’ Star Geoffrey Paschel’s Trial Airing Live on CourtTV — What Charges Is He Facing?
Former 90 Day Fiancé star Geoffrey Paschel is having his day in court after he allegedly abused his ex-girlfriend. The reality TV star is facing many charges in this case. Geoffrey’s court hearing is currently being aired live on CourtTV, beginning October 6, 2021. Here’s what we know about the trail so far.
Geoffrey’s ’90 Day Fiancé’ journey
On 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days Season 4, Geoffrey met his long-distance girlfriend, Varya Malina, on a dating website for Americans to meet Russian women. After months of talking, the Tennesee native packed his bags to meet Varya for the first time. Once in Russia, their relationship took many twists and turns. There were some outbursts on Geoffrey’s part, and Varya didn’t feel ready to accept his marriage proposal.
Geoffrey broke up with her after that and headed back to America, leaving Varya heartbroken. After some time, Varya decided to surprise Geoffrey by flying to Tennessee to see him. Unbeknownst to her, Geoffrey had already moved on with another woman, Mary. After some fighting, Geoffrey and Varya managed to get engaged for real this time. However, because of Geoffrey’s criminal past, TLC refused to show their story on the Tell-All episode, so there was never a conclusion to their love story.
What charges is Geoffrey facing?
According to CourtTV, before he appeared on 90 Day Fiancé, Geoffrey was accused of physically assaulting his then-girlfriend on June 9, 2019. According to an affidavit, his ex-girlfriend claims that an intoxicated Geoffrey “grabbed her by the neck and slammed her head against a wall several times” before throwing her to the ground. The victim fled to the neighbor’s home and called the police.
Geoffrey was ultimately charged with kidnapping, domestic assault, interference with an emergency call, and vandalism. While the timing is unclear, Geoffrey mentioned that he was communicating with Varya in July 2019, shortly after the alleged domestic violence incident. Since his arrest, Geoffrey has made several statements and videos claiming that his ex-wives and former girlfriends are conspiring against him.
Watch Geoffrey’s trial unfolds live on CourtTV
On October 6, CourtTV was live on Geoffrey’s first day of the trial. So far, there have been three witnesses called to the stand. The victim, the neighbor who made the 911 call, and the officer who responded to the incident. During opening statements, the state prosecutor Heather Good described the brutality of the fight between Geoffrey and the victim. She claimed that Geoffrey had banged his ex-girlfriend’s head against the stairs and walls. Officers at the scene noted that the victim had “a large raised bruise on (her) forehead and abrasions on her elbows and knees.” And a paramedic reportedly said she “displayed common signs of a concussion.”
When Geoffrey’s ex-girlfriend was on the stand during cross-examination, the defense attorney representing Geoffrey tried to find gaps in the victim’s timeline. The lawyer tried to find inconsistencies with how much alcohol she consumed that night. Then, the 911 bodycam footage was shown as evidence, showed the victim right after the alleged incident. It showed Geoffrey, shirtless, with visible scratches on his chest, claiming his ex-girlfriend had attacked him.
On October 7, the trail picks back up, live on CourtTV. It’s unclear how long the proceeding will take, but CourtTV will be live streaming the entire trial. The former 90 Day Fiancé star faces many serious charges, so it may take a while to get a verdict, mainly because he is a former reality TV star.
