’90 Day Fiancé’ Star Guillermo Accuses Kara of ‘Not Respecting Him’
90 Day Fiancé Season 9 gives us six new couples to watch as they navigate the waters of an international relationship. Many viewers find some of the pairings odd as there are often significant age gaps, language barriers, and more. Kara and Guillermo have one of the smaller age gaps fans have seen on the show, but that doesn’t mean it’s not an issue for the couple themselves.
’90 Day Fiancé’ star Guillermo is six years younger than his fiancé, Kara
Guillermo and Kara met when he waited tables at a restaurant in the Dominican Republic. Kara had recently moved to live there for work. In the premiere episode of 90 Day Fiancé Season 9, Kara explained how her colleague joked about how young Guillermo looked.
Kara told the 90 Day Fiancé producers, “I was literally just sitting at a table with my computer, working with my colleague, when this waiter strolled up to our table and said, ‘Ladies, it’s tequila time!’ I was like ‘Damn, he’s cute.'” The Virginia native continued, “She [Kara’s colleague] thought he was like a young boy, which he probably was, but he’s a beautiful young boy. I mean, he was 21. It was definitely legal.”
Kara’s jokes about Guillermo’s age anger the Venezuela native
In the Apr. 24 episode of 90 Day Fiancé, Guillermo surprised Kara by inviting some of their friends to dinner before he moved to the United States. This included Guillermo’s older brother Christopher, who commented about Guillermo’s age.
“What worries me about my brother being there is that my brother is still a kid. I mean, he is only 23 years old. And I don’t know how he’ll get along with Kara’s friends,” Christopher told the 90 Day Fiancé cameras.
In another scene, Christopher joked about Kara and Guillermo’s age difference. He even told Kara it surprised him that she didn’t date an older man. However, Kara laughed the comment off and professed that she was a “proud sugar mommy.”
The discussion about Guillermo’s age irritated him. He made sure to point out that he wasn’t a “sugar baby.” Plus, he added he wasn’t marrying Kara as a way to move to the United States. But it was Kara’s next joke that got under Guillermo’s skin.

Kara attempted to explain why she laughed at people’s jokes about Guillermo’s age. She said, “It’s just a joke because all of my friends have husbands that are older and they say, like, ‘Kara likes boys. She wants a toddler. Cradle robber.’ Because it’s funny.”
After telling Kara he didn’t like it when she made jokes about his age, he also explained, “Calling me a toddler, or like a little kid, it’s so ridiculous. It pisses me off. I totally get when my brother is teasing me but my fiancée should be respecting me. I know that in the beginning when I move with her to America, it will be a little bit harder because everything’s going to be so new to me and probably I will need her to take care of me. But the most important thing that I need from her is respect and to treat me as a man.”
