TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days is under fire after fans discovered that several cast members have backgrounds in acting. Stephanie Matto and Geoffrey Paschel have previous acting experience in their resumes, raising questions about their motives on 90 Day Fiancé. Is TLC trying to pull a fast one by casting actors on their reality shows?

Inside Matto’s acting history

90 Day Fiancé highlighted Matto’s previous work as an exotic dancer but the series failed to mention that she is also an actor. Back in the day, Matto appeared on Nickelodeon’s All That and has worked on several commercials over the years.

As fans are well aware, Matto now runs a fairly successful YouTube channel that has over 350,000 subscribers. This has raised questions about her motives and the idea that she agreed to appear on the show to boost her popularity.

Some 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days fans have even suggested that Matto’s romance with Erika Owens was a complete sham. Matto and Owens were the first LGBTQ couple to appear on 90 Day Fiancé, and a few viewers suspected that Motto is lying about being bisexual.

We cannot confirm that Motto is being dishonest about her sexuality. But her background as an actor certainly raises doubts about why she appeared on the reality show in the first place.

Matto has not commented about the reports related to her acting career, but she is not the only person with an entertainment background to appear on the show this season.

What about ’90 Day Fiancé’s’ resident bad boy Paschel?

Before appearing on 90 Day Fiancé, Geoffrey Paschel worked on 14 different projects as an actor. Paschel’s specialty is in the crime genre, with some of his credits being Murder Chose Me and Murder Calls.

According to Soap Dirt, Paschel also enjoyed a cameo in the 2019 movie, Mr. Drake. Paschel played the part of a character named Crossword in the film. It is unclear if TLC took Paschel’s acting into account when they cast him for 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, but that is not the only reason he is taking heat.

Fans were very unhappy when they discovered that Paschel has an extensive criminal history. This includes an alleged abuse and rape of one of his former wives, something that TLC has failed to address.

That said, it appears as though Paschel was not involved in the special tell-all TLC recently filmed for the current season. We do not know if Paschel simply chose to skip out on the special or if TLC banned him, but sources say he was not involved.

Is this the first time ’90 Day Fiancé’ used actors?

Although fans were surprised to learn about Matto and Paschel’s acting history, they are not the first actors that TLC has used in 90 Day Fiancé. Last year, several cast members had dabbled in the entertainment industry, including Caesar Mack and Jesse Meester.

While it may seem as though TLC has a particular fondness for casting former actors, many people who appear on reality television have a history with Hollywood. After all, people who enjoy being in front of the camera are often drawn to reality television, especially if their acting career has taken a major slump.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to say if Matto and Paschel were faking their storylines for the show and were just on it for fame. Paschel seemed genuinely in love with his romantic interest this season, though the verdict is still out on if their relationship worked out.

Matto could certainly have been using the series to boost her YouTube channel. Her romance with Owens completely fell apart and it doesn’t look like things got any better after filming finished. But until more information comes to light, it is difficult to say what is really going on behind the scenes.

Fans can watch the drama continue to unfold when new episodes of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days air Sunday nights on TLC.
