’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’: Jenny Must Find A Way to Stay in India Before Her Visa Expires
90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star Jenny Slatten may just have to leave India once again. After further drama with his parents, Sumit canceled their wedding plans. And he left Jenny looking for another way to stay in the country.
The ’90 Day Fiancé’ star has been through this before
Last season, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way viewers watched Jenny move to India in hopes of staying with Sumit indefinitely. She packed up her life in Palm Springs, cashed in her social security benefits, and moved into a Delhi apartment with Sumit.
But what Jenny didn’t know was that Sumit had been pressured into an arranged marriage by his parents. And he managed to keep his wife a secret for nearly two years. But when his wife, in-laws, and parents came busting down his apartment door, Jenny finally learned the truth.
She ultimately forgave Sumit. But the couple could not get married until Sumit’s divorce was finalized. So when her visa expired, Jenny was unable to extend it, and was forced to go back to the United States.
Jenny hoped this time would be different
On this season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Jenny went back to India with the hope she would finally marry Sumit. The couple moved in together in a house outside of Delhi and waited for Sumit’s divorce to go through.
“I can see the light at the end of the tunnel,” Jenny told producers. “But the clock is ticking, and time is running out. So, this divorce needs to hurry up and get finalized before my visa expires.”
When Sumit’s divorce was finalized, they went to a marriage lawyer to explore their options. The attorney showed them a quick and easy way to get married without Sumit’s parents interfering.
But Sumit insisted he talk to his parents first. Knowing they would create a fuss, Jenny wondered why he wanted to take that step.
“I’m still worried,” she said in a confessional. “Because a lot rides on Sumit’s parents approving of our marriage. If they block it, I’ll have to leave India, and that could ruin our relationship.”
“Sumit’s parents will never give him their blessing to get married to me,” she added. “It’s not going to happen. And I don’t understand why Sumit’s trying to stall the marriage.”
The ’90 Day Fiancé’ star must find another way to stay in India
On one of the final episodes of the season, Sumit invited his parents over in hopes he’d convince them to give Jenny their approval. But when Sumit’s mom, Sahna, threatened to “commit suicide,” he completely changed his tune.
He agreed not to marry Jenny but said he would continue living with her. Jenny was disappointed once again. But with only a few weeks left on her visa, she was more worried about leaving the country.
“My visa’s gonna expire in I think three weeks now,” Jenny told Sumit. “How’s our relationship supposed to continue if I’m back in America?”
Sumit promised he would find another way for her to stay and suggested she might find a sponsor. He insisted he wouldn’t give up on her, but Jenny remained skeptical.
“Last year, you know, the same thing happened,” she said in a confessional. “We weren’t able to get married, so I had to go back home. So this is my third time coming back to India. And if I have to go back to the U.S., I’m not coming back to India for a fourth time. If he can’t make it happen after I gave him three times, I think that’s enough.”
Viewers will get to see how things ultimately panned out on the 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Tell All episode.
