’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’: Why Sumit Can’t Just Move to America With Jenny
Jenny Slatten and Sumit Singh have had one of the most tumultuous relationships on 90 Day Fiancé. From catfishing to secret first marriages, Jenny has been through a lot with Sumit. Now, she is struggling to adjust to life in India. The main question that fans have is why Sumit doesn’t just move to America to make things easier for both of them.
Why Sumit won’t move to America
Jenny has had to deal with several issues while in India, the biggest one has been living with Sumit’s mom to prove that she can be a good wife.
“This is the process we’re kind of in between, trying to convince the family, bring them together and all that and that’s why my mom’s going to come to our house and live together, and let’s see,” Sumit told Entertainment Tonight. “This is her idea to come together and see how Jenny can be a good wife.”
“It’s her idea to come live with us to see if I can take care of him or not,” Slatten added.
With all of this drama, it seems like the easiest route would be for Sumit to just move to America so the couple could live free of Sumit’s family. A fan on Facebook decided to finally ask Jenny that question.
“Jenny have you guys ever thought of coming to [the United] States to live?” the person asked, according to ScreenRant.
“[Too] expensive in U.S,” Jenny answered.
Why don’t Jenny and Sumit have money after appearing on ’90 Day Fiancé’?
When Jenny first started talking to Sumit, she thought he was a completely different person as he was using photos of someone else online. Despite discovering that Sumit was a catfish, Jenny still decided to uproot her life and move to India. In order to do that, she cashed in her retirement money and sold most of her belongings. However, when she got to India, she discovered that Sumit was actually married.
Sumit’s marriage not only surprised viewers, but the 90 Day Fiancé crew as well.
“I will say for us, and maybe because it’s just still fresh in mind, but when we found out that Sumit was married, that really caught us off guard,” Senior VP of production and development at TLC, Alon Orstein, told E! News. “And I remember vividly where I was in the office when I heard about it and talking about it on the phone with our production partners, Sharp. It was definitely a moment.”
Jenny then had to pay for a return ticket to America, repurchase a lot of the things that she had sold, and rebuild her life. However, months later, she got back with Sumit and decided to move to India again, which was extremely costly once again.
Will Jenny and Sumit get married on ’90 Day Fiancé’?
Sumit still doesn’t have his family’s approval to marry Jenny and his divorce from his previous relationship is not completely finalized. However, he did tell Entertainment Tonight that even if his parents didn’t change their minds, he would go ahead and marry Jenny without their approval.
