’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’: Why Sumit’s Mom Once Showed Jenny ‘Lots of Love’

Now that she’s living in India, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star Jenny Slatten has come to terms with the fact that Sumit’s family doesn’t approve of her. But in a new clip for the season, Sumit’s parents share their side of the story, and his mom opens up about the time she showed Jenny “lots of love.”

Fans have been watching Sumit and Jenny’s relationship drama unfold on this season of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way. Jenny finally moved to India and is living with Sumit in a rented home outside of Delhi. Meanwhile, Sumit is trying to get the divorce from his first wife finalized. 

But the two are still trying to convince Sumit’s parents to accept their union. His mom and dad have major issues with Jenny’s age, and what “society” will think of them. “I will never accept Jenny,” Sumit’s mother tells him in a preview for the season.

“Your relationship is downright odd,” his dad suggests, as his mom looks on with tears in her eyes. “You are leaving your parents for her,” she adds.

For a long time, Sumit hid the fact that he was in an arranged marriage from Jenny. But when his parents and in-laws showed up at their apartment, they told Jenny that he had been married for two years. Jenny frantically called 90 Day Fiancé producers to tell them what went down. 

Through tears, Jenny details how Sumit’s family, including his wife, came into their apartment and threatened Sumit. She reveals that Sumit’s mother threw his religious shrine on the ground and grabbed him.

When Jenny tried to pull Sumit back into the room, she says his mother gave her a nasty look. “His mom looked at me like, if looks could kill, I probably would have dropped dead at that moment,” Jenny says in a confessional. “So I backed up.”

In a new 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way sneak peek, Sumit’s parents talk about the time Jenny came to stay with them in 2013. “She (Jenny) told us she was his Facebook friend and she want to visit India,” Sumit’s dad says. “She want to live with us, I said, ‘Okay.’ For two, three days, or one week.”

Sumit’s mother then notes that Jenny lived with them in their home for quite some time. And she reveals how nice and loving she was.  

“She stayed with us for four months,” she says. “I treated her well. I showed her a lot of love.”

“Jenny and my wife, they were talking to each other,” Sumit’s father adds. “They were spending very good times with each other.”

Sumit’s mom admits she didn’t know the two were dating, but his dad realized something was going on when he discovered how much time Sumit was spending with Jenny at night. “I realize, they are having some relationship, more than friends,” he says.

So, it seems like Sumit’s parents have known about Jenny for a long time. Hopefully, for the sake of their son, they can try to look past her age, and see her for the person they were so caring toward all those years ago.
