90 Day Fiancé is a hugely popular reality TV franchise that has spawned numerous spinoffs over the years. The spinoffs have taken on a life of their own, and fans have grown to love the associated shows almost as much as the original series.
One of the latest spinoffs is 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, which premiered in early 2019. Although 90 Day Fiance: The Other Way has only been airing for a little over a year, the show has earned some serious buzz, and the latest season, in particular, has fans online really riled up.
What is ’90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way’ about?
In June 2019, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way debuted on television. In a marked departure from other shows in the franchise, 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way focused on what happens when the American half of the featured couple marries their partner abroad and permanently moves to their partner’s home country. During the course of the season, the couple has to navigate difficult in-laws, cultural divides, and problems arising due to an overseas move.
90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way is widely considered to be the most drama-filled series in the franchise, and the featured couples have had to deal with some major problems. The current season of the show, in particular, is rife with problems, mainly stemming from Brittany and Yazan’s turbulent relationship.
Brittany and Yazan are a controversial couple
From the beginning, Brittany and Yazan have been the subject of intense debate. The two couldn’t be more different on the surface. Brittany Banks is an influencer hailing from Florida, who describes herself as “adventurous. I’m funny. I’m a girlie girl. I’m a Barbie. I’m like a seven-layer cake.”
She has dabbled in modeling, rapping, and marketing work, and loves nothing more than posing for provocative pictures on Instagram.
Yazan, who lives in Jordan, is a conservative Muslim who lives with his parents and younger siblings. Although Yazan has made it clear that he thinks Brittany is the “most beautiful girl in the world,” it was clear from the start of season two that they would struggle seeing eye to eye on certain things.
One of the biggest concerns was that Brittany wouldn’t be able to adapt to the very conservative lifestyle that Yazan and his family prefer and that the structures of society in Jordan would not be conducive to a free spirit like Brittany. Still, fans haven’t exactly been super supportive of Brittany and her journey and were shocked to learn that the influencer used to date much-older men — even ones well into their eighties.
Fans are loving Brittany’s dad
One person who has supported Brittany from the start, in spite of some of her questionable relationship decisions, is her dad. Although her father was shocked to learn that Brittany plans on moving to Jordan permanently, he admitted on the show that his hesitance was due to concerns about her safety more than anything else.
“It’s very scary that something could happen to Brittany all the way over there, and I’m here in America,” he stated.
While fans haven’t always reacted positively to Brittany, they are loving her dad and the close bond that they share. In a recent Reddit thread, fans discussed the scene where he drops his daughter off at the airport.
“Brittany’s dad is up there for one of the nicest people ever on the show,” one fan stated, while another remarked “can we just all appreciate Father Britney’s smile. And fine-ness.” Several other fans agreed that Brittany’s dad is super-hot, posting comments such as: “I’m just gonna put this out there…. I’m DIGGIN Brittanys Dad!!!!”
While it seems as though Brittany will definitely experience some major ups and downs over the rest of the season, her dad is one person who will likely remain in the public’s good graces.
