How did Usman and Kim meet before ’90 Day Fiancé’?

Usman gained a pretty big following when he was on 90 Day Fiancé. But before that, he had fans from his musical career as rapper and singer Sojaboy. The number of women who were interested in him as a performer was a big point of contention in his relationship with Lisa as he would often get direct messages from them. Usman’s new girlfriend may have been one of those women. In the preview for the new season, she says that she began messaging Usman after becoming a fan.

“I flew halfway across the world to meet the man of my dreams,” Kimberly says. “I messaged him, and he messaged me back, and I was like ‘oh my god!’ And that’s how I fell in love with international superstar, Usman a.k.a. Sojaboy.”

TLC’s synopsis of the couple’s relationship provides a little more background on their union.

“Divorcee Kim first reached out to Nigerian musician Usman on social media as a fan. After a year of phone calls, messages, and establishing a long-distance connection, Kim is ready to meet Usman in person and take their relationship to the next level. However, Usman is hesitant about his commitment to Kim. He met his American ex-wife online as well, and needs to know that his relationship with Kim will be different. The couple plans to meet for the first time in Tanzania, where Usman is shooting a music video, but can they ultimately put aside their doubts?

How did Usman meet Babygirl Lisa Hamme from last season of ’90 Day Fiancé’?

Some fans have already said that this relationship seems like a repeat of Usman’s with Lisa. With Kimberly being 50 years old, the situation is very reminiscent of when Usman started dating Lisa when she was 49. Lisa and Usman also met online, however it was through a mutual friend.

“We met online,” Hamme said in an interview with Without a Crystal Ball. “We met through a mutual friend out of the UK. I knew her, she knew him, and he was looking for a female companion. And I just knew her reputation, I’m like, uh, I don’t know about this…but send him through my filtered messaging, and I’ll see what it’s about.

“I was 49 and Usman was 29 when we first met,” she continued. “And when we first met, I’ll be honest with you…I honestly thought, oh, great, another yahoo boy out of Nigeria that’s going to harass me to no end. And I gave him the benefit of the doubt because I don’t like that stigma.”

Is this a repeat of the same relationship?

A lot of things about Kimberly’s relationship with Usman seem similar to his with Lisa, outside of just the age gap. In the preview, Kimberly gets upset about Usman making a music video about another woman. Usman’s work was one of the main issues between him and Lisa. Kimberly also throws a tantrum over Usman’s behavior in the clip, which is also exactly what Lisa used to do. So, it seems that history may be doomed to repeat itself in this relationship.
