‘90 Day Fiancé’: What Is Ben’s Strange ‘Runaway Train’ Story He Wrote for Mahogany?
On the Feb. 6 episode of 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days, Ben, who is in Peru to hopefully meet the woman of his dreams, Mahogany, is still trying everything he can to get in touch with her. While she’s not responding to her messages, he thought a story could get Mahogany to answer. Did it work?
Ben gets stood up at the airport
52-year-old Ben is looking forward to finally meeting the love of his life, 24-year-old Mahogany, after his messy divorce and leaving his strict church. Despite the many red flags, Ben decides he’s still going to take a chance at love by going to Peru to meet Mahogany.
Before boarding the flight to Lima, Peru, Ben received a text message about how Mahogany could not see him as her father is hesitant about Ben’s intentions with her. Despite this message, Ben decides to go anyways. To his surprise, Mahogany isn’t at the airport to greet him. Instead of leaving to go home, Ben goes to his hotel, hoping that Mahogany will message him and they can meet.
Ben’s ‘Runaway Train’ story for Mahogany
The morning after not getting a response from Mahogany. He said, “I’m still trying to communicate with her. So this morning, I wrote her a little story that hopefully she understands and knows where I’m coming from.” He says, “Okay, so I called it, ‘The Runaway Train.'”
Ben reads his story he sent to Mahogany:
“It was a runaway train, every passenger’s nightmare. Brakes failed and a sharp turn just a mile ahead. And a woman screamed out, that set off the panic. People opening windows, shouting and crying. Except one couple, sitting across from each other.
The gentlemen in a black suit winked at the woman in red heels. He slowly smiled and stood reaching his hand out to her and whispered in her ear, ‘Vamos a bailar’ [‘Let’s dance’]
The passengers sat back down as the train hurled towards the steep turn. People were laughing now and clapping in time as the talented couple whirled up and down the aisle.
The old train came off the wheels around that corner, but settled back on the tracks, to the cheers of all that continued on it’s way”
Baby, my beautiful mahogany, the train is already going too fast to stop. Let’s just dance.”
Mahogany finally replies to Ben’s texts
Ben didn’t immediately receive a response from his multiple text messages and his “Runaway Train” story he sent to Mahogany. He said, “So I haven’t got anything yet. I’m hoping, you know, to get a text at some point.”
A day after landing in Lima, Peru, Ben decides he will go to Mahogany’s hometown to try to meet with her there. He says, “I’ve decided to go to San Bartolo, which is where she lives with her parents.”
On the ride to San Bartolo, Ben gets a message from Mahogany for the first time since he’s in Peru. It reads: “San Bartolo is very distant to Lima.” While it’s not the type of message he was imagining, he was happy she finally responded.
He says, “I’m glad that she actually responded. Because she wasn’t telling me to go away, she wasn’t telling me to stay at home. She wasn’t telling me to turn around and get on a plane to leave. So I take that as a good sign.”
He tells her which restaurant to meet him at, unsure if she will show up. Once at the restaurant, he expects her to meet him there at 8 pm. However, Ben is still waiting for over 45 minutes, and Mahogany is still a no-show.
90 Day Fiancé fans will have to wait and see if his “Runaway Train” story influenced Mahogany enough for her to defy her father and meet him at the restaurant. 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days airs Sundays on TLC and discovery+.
