Syngin recently found out that his brother was in the intensive care unit with a blood clot. He calls his brother, and he’s able to video chat with him about what’s going on. It turns out Syngin’s brother suffered a fall to his knee, and a few days later, he had a blood clot in his lung. He says it’s been the worst experience of his life in ICU. Luckily, he’s out of there and they caught the blood clot before it got to his heart.

Syngin is extremely close to his brother, and he knows he’s needed back at home. Only weeks into his stay in the United States, his grandmother died, and he wasn’t able to be there. Now, he’s kind of in the same boat again with his brother going through this serious medical situation.

Why Syngin wants to go back to South Africa

He meets up with Tania Maduro, his wife. “I’m nervous to tell Tania that I want to go to South Africa,” Syngin tells the cameras. He explains to Tania that he spoke with his brother, and that things are rough. Syngin says he wants to see his brother ASAP, but they need to work things out, considering Tania is recovering and finances are tight.

Tania explains that if it were her family, she’d tell Syngin that she has to go. Syngin asks if Tania would be OK to come along as well, and Tania asks him if he wants her to go. “You’re part of the family now,” Syngin tells her. “He’s my family, so we’re together, you know?”

Tania and Syngin are going through some things right now, and it’s best if they settle things before leaving for South Africa together. Tania explains that she’s scared to return to South Africa. What if Syngin starts to question moving to the United States with her after spending some much-needed time with family?
