’90 Day Fiancé’: Why the First Attempted Visit by Chantel’s Family to Meet Pedro’s Grandmother Is So Eventful
In the hit series 90 Day Fiancé and its spinoffs, there are a number of memorable couples, but one of the most entertaining to watch is Chantel Everett and Pedro Jimeno. Fans love them so much that they even received their own spinoff called The Family Chantel. Read on to learn what happens on the first attempt to get Chantel’s family and Pedro’s grandmother together on the farm.
Chantel and Pedro plan a second wedding in the Dominican Republic
In season 2 of 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? Chantel and Pedro choose to have a second wedding in the Dominican Republic. The first wedding was special, but not the big ceremony with the lavish white dress and all that. The second wedding is a beautiful ceremony, but there is drama surrounding it before the couple can say “I do.”
After a meal goes south quickly, the families try to get together again on the farm where Pedro’s grandmother lives. There is already a lot of tension between Chantel’s family and Pedro’s family, but they attempt this outing with a positive outlook, at least at first. They all share a van on the ride over to the farm, which is several hours away. The car ride goes OK surprisingly, but when they arrive, it’s a different story.
Why the first attempted visit by Chantel’s family to meet Pedro’s grandmother is so eventful
When the van finally arrives, Pedro, along with his mother and sister, get out to greet Pedro’s grandmother. However, Chantel and her family stay in the vehicle. “We do not wish to get out of the van. This place is in despair,” Karen tells the cameras.
Chantel attempts to explain things. “My family sees nothing but like a cauldron and some woman stirring a pot. Like my mom’s already shocked by the chicken feet voodoo his mom tried to serve us,” Chantel tells the cameras.
The family discusses how different things have become for Pedro’s mom and sister considering they are living in a three-bedroom apartment and Chantel and Pedro live in a small one-bedroom apartment. Chantel’s brother says Pedro is going to come back to the Dominican Republic.
Pedro and Chantel talk
Pedro attempts to find out what’s going on, since Chantel’s family won’t get out of the van. Chantel’s family says they will talk at the hotel. But Chantel comes out to talk to Pedro about what’s going on. She is upset because Pedro is sending money back home to his family instead of putting it toward their expenses. It’s clear that Pedro’s mom and sister’s circumstances have gotten better and Chantel and her family think it’s because Pedro is sending money back to them.
“This is my responsibility as a son,” Pedro says. “My mother is my responsibility as a son. If I give money to my mother it’s my responsibility, not your responsibility. I have helped you with everything.”
Chantel storms out and goes back with her family to the hotel. Chantel’s family didn’t even get out of the van the entire time they are there, so they didn’t get to meet the rest of Pedro’s family. It’s clear that things didn’t go well the first time Chantel’s family attempts to meet Pedro’s grandmother.
