’90 Day Fiancé’: Yara Wants Jovi to Drink Less, Threatens Visitation for Child
90 Day Fiancé couple Yara and Jovi have had their fair share of bumps and bruises during their time together on the hit TLC franchise. Now, a recent spate of incidents has Yara feeling very alienated and frustrated with Jovi. She’s started asking him to cut down on his drinking — something he can be seen engaging with very frequently during the show. Jovi’s reply did not leave her feeling reassured.
Jovi’s parents don’t seem to trust Yara
90 Day Fiancé star Jovi’s parents don’t seem to be thrilled by Yara’s presence in their home. A recent episode of the show left some fans feeling bad for Yara after Jovi’s parents made disparaging remarks about her in her absence.
At one point during the episode, Yara was left home alone when Jovi and his parents went out without her. When he and his parents hit the road, they started making fun of Yara.
Essentially, Jovi’s parents seemed to enjoy bandying about the idea that Yara might, for some reason, be interested in stealing their things.
“Are we safe leaving her in our house all by herself? We locked up everything?” asked Jovi’s mother, looking smug.
Jovi originally didn’t believe Yara was pregnant
Later during the season, Yara takes a pregnancy test that comes back positive. The 90 Day Fiancé star feels trepidation talking about her pregnancy, especially after a recent miscarriage.
“After a miscarriage, it’s not easy to talk about having a baby again. I always want to wait for a perfect moment to tell Jovi about the news, but it’s really hard for me to keep a secret,” said Yara.
The 90 Day Fiancé couple went out and Yara sat down to get a henna tattoo done. During the tattoo, she deciders to spill the beans. After a few moments of hesitation, she opens up.
“I’m pregnant,” she said.
“No you’re not. No you’re not. … No,” replied Jovi as Yara protested. “I don’t believe you. If you were pregnant you would have already told me.”
“I’m telling you now!” replied Yara.
“You could have told me before I got home. … I don’t believe you,” he continued. Jovi then told producers that he never knows when to take her seriously.
Yara suggested he’s unhappy, and Jovi said that’s not the case. “I mean if it’s true yeah of course, I’m okay with it. No big deal,” he replied blithely.
‘90 Day Fiancé’ couple butts heads over drinking
The 90 Day Fiancé dad-to-be eventually accepted the reality of the situation. However, that wasn’t the end of the couple’s problems. Yara eventually realized Jovi really enjoyed alcohol, and after an uncomfortable party in which he seemed to ignore her, she decided it was time for a change.
“If you wanna be with me, you need to stop the drinking,” said Yara.
Jovi denied that he drank too much, and butted heads with Yara over the requirement, suggesting that she just wants him to stop because she can’t drink.
“You drink every day. … And you don’t think about your future which is make me mad. If I would’ve known that it will be like this, my life here, I would never come to live here. Swear to God. Why I was need to change my nice life to this sh*t?” said Yara.
“You wanna be a good father and being near to me, or you wanna be a good father from far away and taking the kids for a weekend?” asked Yara, seemingly threatening visitation.
“Ok, I will try to be more caring to you and to drink a little bit less. I’m sorry. I just didn’t think things would be so bad,” her 90 Day Fiancé beau replied.
Yara later told producers that she wasn’t very thrilled with his reaction.
“It’s so important for my future husband to be respectful to me, especially when I am pregnant. I just want him to show me that it’s me and the baby first. But Jovi don’t do that,” she said.
