A Classmate From Kate Gosselin’s High School Told Her She’s Not a ‘Horrible Person’ on Instagram
It’s been a long time since Kate Gosselin has graced our TV screens. We remember her way back when on Jon & Kate Plus 8 when she shared the screen with now-ex-husband, Jon Gosselin, and their sets of twins and sextuplets. Today, the kids are all growing teens, though it’s doubtful we’ll ever see them together on TV again, as the family remains as divided as ever. It’s no secret Jon and Kate had a very messy and public divorce, and two of the sextuplets, Hannah and Collin, now live permanently with Jon and rarely see Kate.
While Kate has gotten plenty of negative media attention over the years, she’s ready to get back into the spotlight with Kate Plus Date. And while plenty of fans and acquaintances have slammed Kate over the years, it seems a high school classmate is coming to her defense on Instagram.
Kate Gosselin was recently called an ‘awful human’ by a TLC publicist
From her messy divorce to her many stints on reality TV, Kate Gosselin has been dividing audiences since she first appeared on TLC. While audiences certainly have their opinions of her, it seems someone who met her personally is slamming her publicly. Radar Online reports a former TLC representative, Joey Skladany, told the Straight Shuter podcast what it was really like working with Kate. And while Skladany mentioned he thought the star would warm up to him if he was kind to her, he added that that seriously wasn’t the case.
“Everyone warned me that she was difficult — and I said, ‘No. I’ll compliment her,'” Skladany said on the podcast. He then added, “At the Today show, I said, ‘Your hair looks gorgeous!’ She wouldn’t even look me in the darn eyes! … At the end of the day, I called my boss and said, ‘She’s an awful human.’ They were like, ‘We know. Thank you for the feedback.’”

Jon seems to have more support from fans than Kate at this point, though it looks like Kate still has some fans in her corner. Recently, she posted a video clip of Kate Plus Date to her Instagram to share with her fans. “I can’t WAIT to share all these scary, awkward, fun, exciting, dorky and rewarding moments with you! I’m going on this adventure in hopes of finding my someone, but I also hope to show all single parents out there …. that dating is mostly survivable lol!” she captioned the post.
Many showed their support for this endeavor of hers, and one person who spoke up in the comments was a high school friend of Kate’s. “I know you personally from our high school years. You are not the horrible person you’re portrayed as in media( as you commented above) Can’t wait to see your dating adventures [sic],” they commented. To verify who they were, they then added, “we went to MCCS and were in Mrs Cox Year Book Club. Let me know when you remember me [sic].”
Kate even commented back to her old classmate. “OMG I figured it out…. you had the longest and best name ever! Remember I used to call you your ENTIRE name for fun?! You married Scott?! Lord, where have I been??(besides raising 8 kids lol??!) [sic]” Kate responded.
Jon & Kate Plus 8 fans are still slamming her, however
Kate may have an old acquaintance on her side, but many are still slamming her on social media. On her Mother’s Day post she added to Instagram this year, many took to the comments to call her out for being a bad parent to her eight kids. “Oh please, a real a mother doesn’t abandon her son. Stop patting yourself on the back, you are horrid and Jon should get the rest of the kids,” one Instagram user said — and they certainly weren’t the only one to add such commentary.
As for Jon, he doesn’t bad-mouth Kate to the media. Instead, he tends to stay out of her business and out of the reality TV spotlight to create as little noise as possible with Hannah and Collin, the two kids who are in his care. There’s no doubt we’ll be watching Kate Plus Date when it comes out — and hopefully, Kate can get some of her haters to change their views of her.
