A Fan Tried to Insult Kelly Ripa On Instagram and It Backfired Big Time

Even when she is not filming Live, Ripa’s wits can still be seen on social media. She recently had to deal with an internet commenter who was not being nice to her.

Kelly Ripa clapped back at someone who told her to ‘grow up’
On January 9, Ripa posted a picture of her husband, Mark Consuelos, on Instagram with the caption: “#daddy got a haircut. That’s right, i said it. #DADDY.”
Ripa’s caption seems to refer to the fact that fans had given her a hard time in the past for calling Consuelos “Daddy,” though it’s clear that she does not care one bit. This time, a follower with the handle @skinnercathy responded to Ripa’s post and said, “Oh grow up.”
Instead of ignoring the comment, Ripa decided to clap back. She wrote: “Oh go appreciate your animals and recite your mantra cath.”
Ripa’s comeback did not come out of nowhere. It actually referenced @skinnercathy’s Instagram bio. Although her page is set to private, her bio can still clearly be seen. It says: “I love animals. That’s quite obvious. I’m also a spiritual person. I love my life. Smile. Life is a precious gift. Appreciation is my mantra.”
Kelly Ripa is known for defending herself against trolls
This is actually not the first time that someone online felt Ripa’s wrath. She has had a history of putting haters in their place and making it known that she is not afraid to stand up for herself.
On a visit to the Wendy Williams Show in March 2019, Ripa shared: “I love a clapback. I love a troll but I love to troll a troll. Like, if you’re gonna troll me, then I’m gonna troll back.”
As with many celebrities, Ripa gets a lot of unsolicited comments about her appearance from random strangers online. In one instance, a netizen accused her of having a nose job and veneers. In response, Ripa politely shut down the person in question.
“I’m gonna tell you right now. No nose job, and no veneers,” she said. “I wouldn’t be sleeping in a retainer every night if I had. You guys do know how to make a girl feel special.”
Someone also once told Ripa to “start eating something,” and Ripa immediately slammed that person. “Oh Lord an unoriginal troll. Bye,” Ripa wrote.
Ripa does not just stand up for herself, however. She will defend her family members against rude comments as well. When one troll said that her husband often “tries to look taller,” Ripa posted a quick, to-the-point response: “He’s tall where it counts babe.”

Ripa is so skilled at clap backs that no one is immune to her wits, not even her children. She once showed off her mom humor with her teenage daughter Lola on Instagram.
When Ripa posted a red carpet photo with Consuelos and captioned it, “Prom with #daddy (it’s a Riverdale thing),” Lola chimed in to tell Ripa that the picture will never be as legendary as Lola’s own prom photo.
“Lol but your prom pic will never get as many likes as me and @tar3fahmy,” Lola said.
Ripa did not need to argue much with her daughter. She simply shut down the discussion with a simple statement: “Did you clean your room yet?”
