A Look Back At the Famous Men Ciara Dated and Was Engaged to Before Russell Wilson
Recording artist Ciara and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson have been giving us couple goals ever since they got together. But before meeting her husband, the songbird thought she was unlucky in love.
She and Wilson began dating and made their first public appearance together when they attended the White House’s Japanese state dinner in 2015. Then, in 2016, while vacationing in the Seychelles they announced via social media that they were engaged.
“She said Yes!!! Since Day 1 knew you were the one. No Greater feeling #TrueLove,” Wilson captioned the Instagram video.
A few months later the pair tied the knot in a lavish ceremony at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, England. And the following year, they welcomed their first child together — a daughter named Sienna.
Prior to saying “I do” and starting a family with the NFL star, Ciara dated and was even engaged to a few other famous faces. Here’s a look back at the celebrities she was linked to over the years.
Bow Wow
Back in 2004, the singer was in a relationship with Shad Moss, who is better known by his stage name Bow Wow.
While together the two even collaborated together on the song “Like You.” Rumors swirled though that Bow Wow was unfaithful and in 2006 they called it quits. However, something that many people did not know about the former couple is that they were actually engaged. The rapper revealed during an episode of Growing Up Hip Hop that he asked Ciara to marry him back then and she said yes.
“I was engaged to Ciara and I was engaged to Erica [Mena]. You know I let things in the past that I know was wrong affect my engagement[s],” he admitted.
50 Cent
In 2007, the “1,2 Step” artist began dating Curtis Jackson, also known as 50 Cent.
Like with Bow Wow, the rapper and songstress collaborated on a single together. The track titled “Can’t Leave ’Em Alone” was accompanied by a sultry video of the pair. Things didn’t last though and they broke up in 2010. That same year, Ciara denied that they were ever in a romantic relationship.
“He’s been my best friend for years … That’s pretty much the situation,” she told talk show host Wendy Williams. “I haven’t really had the chance to do like dating over the years from my relationship with the young Bow [Wow]. I just really want to take my time, because that’s what it’s about.”
However, many still believe that her 2012 song “Sorry” is about their split.
Amar’e Stoudemire
Wilson isn’t the first professional athlete Ciara has dated. In 2011, she was with NBA star Amar’e Stoudemire.
The former New York Knicks player briefly dated the “Ride” singer before he ended up marrying the mother of his children, Alexis Welch, in 2012.
When asked about her former beau marrying Welch, Ciara said, “I wish them nothing but success on that.”
Future
One of Ciara’s most high-profile past relationships was with Future, whose real name is Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn.
They started dating in 2013 and the rapper was featured in her music video for “Body Party.” The pair got engaged and welcomed their son, Future Zahir Wilburn, in 2014. But a few months later they broke off their engagement and ended their relationship.
