After watching the A Million Little Things Season 4 premiere, many viewers want to know who helped Gary Mendez (James Roday Rodriguez) the night, he was at Peter Benoit’s (Andrew Leeds) house. The season 3 finale only gave a glimpse of Gary on Peter’s doorstep (without an accomplice), so fans are confused.

‘A Million Little Things’ Season 4 Episode 1 recap, ‘Family First’

When A Million Little Things Season 4 returned on Sept. 22, Gary was on edge. He greeted his dog late at night and then washed some blood off of his arm and hands. Throughout the episode, Gary topped his typical amount of jokes. When a photographer came to his apartment door to take photos for the listing, viewers could tell he had anxiety over who the man was.

That morning, Sophie Dixon (Lizzy Greene) received a call from the Brooklyn police department that Peter was attacked and “beaten pretty badly.” According to Detective Craig Saunders (Brian Markinson), Peter might not survive. Maggie Bloom (Allison Miller) relayed the news about Peter to Gary, and he immediately Googled it. However, nothing came up yet.

After an entire episode of fans wondering what happened, Gary has a flashback in the last few moments of the A Million Little Things Season 4 premiere. In the clip, Gary pulls Peter into his music studio with a bag over his head. Meanwhile, another man walks in.

“Did anybody see you,” Gary asks.

The man responds that no one saw him. Then the flashback ends. Viewers still do not know what Gary did to Peter. However, the following day he’s in a coma.

‘A Million Little Things’: Who was with Gary?

Some viewers recognized who Gary was with in the A Million Little Things Season 4 premiere. The mysterious man was Christopher Gregory (Michael Weston) — Layla’s father. In season 3, fans found out that Layla was a student of Peter’s who died by suicide. Sophie read the deceased girl’s journal and found out that Peter also asked her to perform her music lesson in a swimsuit. Although Layla’s parents did not believe Sophie at first that Peter might have sexually assaulted her, they came around by the season 4 finale.

The other question viewers might be wondering is whether Peter saw Gary and Christopher before they allegedly beat him up. In the final seconds of the A Million Little Things Season 3 finale, Gary came up to Peter from behind and tossed a burlap bag over his head. From the angle viewers watched the scene play out, it did not look like Peter saw Gary. However, in the latest episode, Gary does speak to Christopher in front of Peter.
