A ‘Snowfall’ Season 5 Update
After all the drama in Snowfall Season 4, fans are wondering what the future holds for Franklin Saint and the members of his crew. The good news is that FX has already approved the TV show for another season. Though most details have been kept a secret, we at least know the series will return to the air in 2022.
How did ‘Snowfall’ Season 4 end?
The fourth season of Snowfall ended with Franklin winning the war against Manboy and Skully; Leon wanting out of the game; Jerome and Aunt Louie trying to break away from Franklin; and Reed possibly murdering Alton.
Snowfall was renewed in March, even before the show finished airing the season (via Variety). The next month, show writer and executive producer Leonard Chang confirmed on Twitter that work on Snowfall Season 5 had begun, tweeting a photo from a video call with other writers and staff members.
When does ‘Snowfall’ come back on?
During FX’s TCA presentation in August, the network unveiled release dates for several of its shows. When it comes to Snowfall, Entertainment Tonight reports the show is expected to return “in the first half of 2022,” but an exact date is not known.
Details were not shared, but Snowfall co-creator Dave Andron previously said the next season would be set against the backdrop of a “really difficult time” in Los Angeles.
“We’re going to probably, it looks like, jump forward a little bit in time, more than we have maybe in the past to get into the meat of 1986 when the violence was really ramping up, when you really started to feel the full militarization of the LAPD, when the War on Drugs was on its way to reaching its apex,” he told Gold Derby.
“And then this kind of pop culture explosion that was brimming in South Central — the rise of gangster rap and you had ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and those things getting ready to drop and blow up. It’s a huge sea change moment for the neighborhood,” Andron continued.
“And so without getting into too much character stuff, I will just say from the standpoint of history and kind of where we are in the arc of this thing, it’s a really exciting time for us to plop our characters into and see what happens,” he added.
Who’s in the cast of ‘Snowfall’ Season 5?
Considering the direction of the show, it’s safe to assume the fifth season will feature actors Damson Idris (Franklin Saint), Isaiah John (Leon Simmons), Angela Lewis (Aunt Louie), Amin Joseph (Jerome Saint), and Carter Hudson (Teddy McDonald), among others. It’s unclear if any new actors will join the show, but it’s possible.
