A ‘Worst Cooks in America’ Winner Once Appeared on ‘Law & Order: SVU’
Worst Cooks in America uncovered a deep-seated need. It turns out, audiences were dying to see cooks who are bad at cooking compete in front of gourmet chefs. The Food Network show is now a decade old. It’s had spinoffs and inspired other, similar shows. But long time fans are starting to wonder if the bad cooks on the show are really bad cooks. In recent seasons, the cooks have seemed almost too bad to be real. Fans on Reddit have discovered evidence that supports the theory that the show is fake.
Fans found one winner on ‘Law and Order: SVU’
The last season’s winner of the show, Adrian Read, is reportedly a Zumba instructor in the Bronx, according to AMNY. However, a Redditor re-watching old episodes of Law and Order: SVU found something of interest to Worst Cooks in America fans. The user posted a screencap of the SVU show on Reddit, and fans agree there’s an actor in the show who looks exactly like Read. In fact, many fans are convinced that it is him.
If Read is an actor, that gives credence to recent fan theories that the show is mostly staged. However, Read does not have any credits on his IMDb page aside from Worst Cooks in America. It’s not clear from the screenshot how much of the SVU episode the Read look-alike appeared in, but he could have been an extra on the show. Extras aren’t usually considered actors. Even if Read did have a small part, it seems like he doesn’t have much of an acting career to speak of.
There’s also the possibility that the SVU actor isn’t Read at all. Although many fans are convinced, doppelgängers do happen. Or, Read could have a brother or cousin who looks a lot like him.

The SVU picture was proof enough for some fans. Certain Redditors commented on the picture and mentioned that they think this and other reality shows are faked. As one user put it, “Most of the people on the show are actors.”
Others compared Worst Cooks in America to the popular mobile game show Cash Cab. “Cash Cab? All actors. Every. Single. Fare.” But fans didn’t need much convincing. A lot of Redditors already think the show is fake, as revealed in another post on the subject.
Is ‘Worst Cook in America’ fake?
Even assuming the actor in SVU isn’t Read, fans aren’t buying the ‘reality’ aspect of this reality show. Although the cooks were always bad, some fans think the show has fallen into a kind of downward spiral. In order to maintain audience attention, the cooks need to keep getting worse. If they get better, the show isn’t as compelling. But a person can only be so bad at cooking. So, some fans think they use actors on the show.
It’s gotten to the point where the cooks are so bad fans are starting to lose faith. They think that no one could be as bad at cooking as some of these contestants. At some point, if a person is as bad at cooking as these contestants, fans start to wonder how they “function in society.” If they can’t manage their way around a refrigerator, it’s hard to believe they’ve made it all the way to the set of a reality TV show without some serious help. It’s gone from a reality TV show to a scripted comedy in the minds of many, and the picture of Read on SVU is just icing on the cake.
