AB6IX on Their New Album ‘Mo’ Complete’
Woong, Donghyun, Woojin, and Daehwi originally debuted in the K-pop group AB6IX in 2019. Since debuting, the members have become known for self-producing their music. On Sept. 27, AB6IX released their second studio album, Mo’ Complete, which follows the band’s 2021 EP Mo’ Complete: Have a Dream.
Before Mo’ Complete dropped, Showbiz Cheat Sheet interviewed Woong, Donghyun, Woojin, and Daehwi of AB6IX over email about making the album, producing music, and what they want to accomplish next.

Showbiz Cheat Sheet: Mo’ Complete is your second studio album. How does it feel to reach this milestone in your career?
Woong: We hope those who listen to our music think “They(AB6IX) have grown in many aspects.” All of our members worked very hard on this album, so I hope everyone likes it.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: What can you tell us about Mo’ Complete?
Daehwi: Mo’ Complete is the second and last part of the series, which started with our former album Mo’ Complete: Have a Dream. Through this album, we will show how AB6IX has grown in music, and how we got closer to perfecting ourselves.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: Mo’ Complete is part of the same album series as your EP Mo’ Complete: Have a Dream. What did you want to accomplish with this album series?
Donghyun: Actually I think about this every time when I am preparing an album. I want to show AB6IX’s musical taste and color to more people. Also, I want more people to feel empathy, encouragement, and happiness while listening to our music.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: Out of the 10 songs on Mo’ Complete do you have a favorite? If so, can you each explain why it is your favorite?
Donghyun: It’s “Do You Remember.” The atmosphere of the song matches my personal taste. And somehow you find yourself listening to it again and again.
Daehwi: My favorite is “Simple Lover” because the melody and beat on it is great. I think the vocal sound from this song represents AB6IX’s sound the best.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: “Cherry” is the lead single on Mo’ Complete. What is the meaning behind the song?
Daehwi: “Cherry” expresses the feeling of falling in love with someone, depicting a cherry turning red. Its genre is punk-pop.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: Why did you feel “Cherry” was the best choice as the main single from your new album?
Woong: Every member liked “Cherry.” It was just a great song and it perfectly matches AB6IX’s vibe. Through our last title “Close” we tried to show something powerful, so this time showing something light and refreshing seemed like a good idea.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: You are all involved in producing and songwriting on Mo’ Complete. Can you explain your creative process when it comes to making music?
Woong: While listening to some beats, if a melody comes to my mind, I record it on my phone and try to make a song out of it when I am at the studio.
Donghyun: I get inspired by things I encounter in daily life, such as reading a book, watching TV shows, watching movies, or talking to friends, fans, or families.
Woojin: I try to break down the song after listening to it. Finding the right atmosphere for the song, and choosing the right words for the lyrics so that it can appeal to the audience, is what I try to do.
Daehwi: I try to make trendy songs. Also songs that the people can enjoy. Figuring out what kind of music or vibe listeners want, is my approach.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: What is your favorite part about writing and producing music?
Woojin: Writing down my thoughts as lyrics line by line on a note, and at the end reading it is my favorite part.
Daehwi: It is most exciting when people listen to our music that contains our thoughts and feel the same emotion we have.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: You debuted a little over two years ago. What is the biggest lesson you have learned since your debut?
Woojin: I have learned that there is no end to learning, and I have to keep up the hard work to grow and not stay in the same spot.
Showbiz Cheat Sheet: What would you like to achieve next as members of AB6IX?
Woong: I hope more people get to know us (AB6IX) and our music.
Donghyun: I want AB6IX to enter every artist’s dream, hitting the Billboards.
Woojin: I wish more people knew our name.
Daehwi: I hope in the future, we can attend an award show and perform on stage for our fans.
