Sure, the Abbott Elementary Season 3 finale was big for Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory (Tyler James Williams). But season 4 is set to be “huge” for their co-worker and friend, Jacob (Chris Perfetti). According to Brunson, the creator and star of the award-winning mockumentary  comedy series set at a fictional Philadelphia school, viewers will “learn a lot more” about Jacob. How? By introducing viewers to his family.

Meet ‘some’ of Jacob’s family in ‘Abbott Elementary’ Season 4

The new season of Abbott Elementary won’t just give viewers a closer look at Principal Ava Coleman’s (Janelle James) personal life. The same can also be said for Jacob.

In a TV Line interview ahead of the Abbott Elementary Season 4 premiere, Brunson, aka teacher Janine Teagues, shared that family is very much part of Jacob’s storyline this season.

“We’re going to learn a lot more about Jacob,” she said. “And I think one thing that’s really exciting about him is we’re going to get to meet some family of his, and I just love meeting families. It’s just so fun.”

Brunson continued, calling it a “huge” moment for Jacob. “I think that’s going to be huge for Jacob because it’s going to tell us a lot about his character without us saying specifically to the camera, ‘Hey, this is what my life was like. This is my situation.’” But I’m just excited to see family of his.”

Brunson didn’t share which relatives of Jacob’s viewers will meet in Abbott Elementary Season 4 or who will play them. Maybe it will be another celebrity cameo to add to the show’s growing list? Only time will tell.

How ‘Abbott Elementary’ Season 3 ended for Jacob

Jacob ended the school year on a positive note when Abbott Elementary Season 3 wrapped. He came up with the idea to take the students to Smith Playground—for free—when the annual school-wide field trip was in danger of being canceled.

Apart from a few hiccups with another school that led to a spirited relay race (Abbott won!), going to the playground was a hit with the students and teachers.

Jacob also ended the season on good terms with his ex-boyfriend, Zach (Larry Owens), after Janine invited him to her end of the school year party. The season finale ended with Jacob and his fellow Abbott teachers—minus Gregory and Janine—outside the school the morning after the party.
