Don’t be tardy to class when Abbott Elementary Season 4 premieres. Ahead are details on what time the premiere episode of the hit mockumentary comedy series airs. Plus, what to expect in new episodes after the season 3 finale.

‘Abbott Elementary’ Season 4 has a new time slot

Class is just hours—yes, hours—away from being back in session with the Abbott Elementary Season 4 premiere. When does the premiere episode air? Season 4’s premiere episode airs at 9:30 p.m. ET on ABC, not at its previous 9 p.m. time slot, according to the network

Expect new episodes weekly every Wednesday night on ABC and Hulu to follow. After a shorter 14-episode season, Abbott Elementary is returning to 22 episodes.

What to expect in the new season of ‘Abbott Elementary’

The show’s creator and star, Quinta Brunson, has remained pretty tight-lipped about what’s in store for everyone at Abbott in the new season. However, here and there she’s shared a few details.

Shortly before premiere day, the big TV event Brunson previously teased for the award-winning series finally got revealed. Viewers can expect an Abbott Elementary crossover episode with another popular TV series set in Philadelphia, Penn., It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. How will Rob McElhenney and the rest of the comedy’s cast end up in the Abbott Elementary world? Only time will tell.

Elsewhere, Brunson shared fans will learn more about principal Ava Coleman, played by Janelle James, after making a “conscious choice” to leave her personal life a mystery.

Early episode descriptions have also provided a glimpse into season 4. A golf course is being built near Abbott in the premiere episode. In the second, the teachers discover that a student has ringworm.

How ‘Abbott Elementary’ Season 3 ended

Now a refresher on what happened as the school year ended for Janine (Brunson), Jacob (Chris Perfetti), Ava, Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter), Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph), Gregory (Tyler James Williams), and everyone else at Abbott in the season 3 finale.

Following an eventful school field trip to a local playground, featuring a relay race and a moment where Janine and Gregory almost kissed, Janine hosted a party.

She planned everything, down to the sections where people would congregate in her small apartment. What she didn’t plan for, however, was Gregory coming to her door just as she went to tell him how she felt. After seasons of sparks flying, they finally kissed in the season finale’s last scene as the mockumentary film crew left Janine’s apartment and the credits rolled.

Jacob ended the school year on something of a triumphant note. Not only did he make a free field trip happen but he also washed away the bad blood between him and his ex. Barbara and Melissa had fun dancing—and drinking—the night away before ending up outside Abbott in the early hours of the morning along with the rest of the teachers, as well as Ava and Mr. Johnson (William Stanford Davis).

Here’s hoping viewers get a glimpse of what happened during the summer break in new episodes. Or at least a few tidbits in the teachers’ mockumentary interviews as they return to school in Abbott Elementary Season 4.
