‘Abbott’ isn’t new on Nov. 27, 2024
The holiday season is here and for Abbott Elementary and other network TV shows that means new episodes every week aren’t always a given. Unfortunately for fans of the series, Abbott Elementary isn’t new on Nov. 27, 2024. And, no a rerun of a previous episode won’t be airing.
Instead, Abbott’s usual Wednesday night time slot is being filled by a special edition of 20/20 (via ABC). The Untold Story of Mary Poppins begins on ABC at 9 p.m. ET on Nov. 27, 2024. It will be available to stream on Hulu the next day like episodes of Abbott.
‘Abbott Elementary’ returns Dec. 4, 2024
Good news, Abbott fans. It won’t be much longer until class is back in session. Abbott Elementary returns with an all-new episode on Dec. 4, 2024. More good news—it won’t be the standard 30-minute episode. According to the network, the mockumentary is coming back with a one-hour holiday event. That means not one but two episodes.
Here’s what to expect in the first, titled “Winter Show.” “Despite a few setbacks, Barbara (Sheryl Lee Ralph) is determined to make Abbott Elementary’s first-ever holiday show a success; Jacob’s (Chris Perfetti) brother arrives for his visit earlier than planned.” Then in the “Winter Break” episode, Melissa (Lisa Ann Walter) “hosts the Schemmenti family Christmas Eve dinner and goes to great lengths to make sure everything is perfect. Meanwhile, Janine (Quinta Brunson) and Gregory (Tyler James Williams) get an unexpected guest.”
If that’s not enough to soften the blow of no new episode on Nov. 27, 2024, remember the It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode is on the way. It’s scheduled for Jan. 8, 2025, Abbott Elementary’s midseason return following the holiday season.
Plus, there are lots more episodes to go in the show’s fourth season since the Emmy-awarding series is back to its 22-episode format.
What happened in the last episode of ‘Abbott Elementary’
So, where did Abbott Elementary leave off last time? The most recent episode, titled “The Deli,” which aired on Nov. 14, 2024, once again showed how the neighborhood is changing as construction on the golf course continues.
Jacob, Melissa, and Barbara set out to save the beloved deli across the street that’s set to close and be replaced by a smoothie shop. Melissa and Barbara visit another smoothie shop location intending to scope out the competition only to fall in love with their products. Meanwhile, Jacob puts up flyers to get everyone in the neighborhood to protest.
Soon, Jacob, Melissa, and Barbara are excited about the smoothie shop’s arrival. They don’t mind saying goodbye to the deli if it means delicious drinks. Then, the protestors do their thing despite the teachers’ efforts to get them to leave, saving the deli from becoming a smoothie shop. The bright side? The deli starts selling smoothies. The downside, though, is they’re not tasty at all.
While all of this is going on, Ava (Janelle James) gives a surprisingly helpful presentation to other school principals and gives Janine some helpful advice about a student.
