Abby Huntsman Reveals She Felt ‘Threatened’ During Her Time on ‘The View’

Meghan McCain is not the only former The View co-host that felt there was a toxic environment on the show. McCain’s bestie Abby Huntsman is now opening up about her time on the ABC program and revealing she felt “threatened” while being there. Huntsman was only a co-host for less than two seasons and part of the reason she left was due to the drama with executives, according to her.

Why did Abby Huntsman feel threatened as ‘The View’ co-host?

Huntsman is following McCain’s footsteps in revealing dark secrets from behind the scenes at The View. The conservative star left the show at the beginning of 2020 after two seasons in the program. In a new interview with Daily Mail TV, Huntsman is opening up about the executives that made her time on the show a little difficult.

“It was almost like [the show’s executives] wanted there to be that tension, it was part of their game which made it really hard,” Huntsman said. “It didn’t always make people their very best self and so you’re always paranoid. It’s not a healthy or normal way for any human being to live their life.”

Huntsman said that prior to leave the show, she raised concerns about the tension she felt from some of the executives. She recalls that “there was behavior that should never have happened in a work environment” and the way people treated others was “unacceptable.” The silver lining is that “a lot of those executives have since left or been fired,” she added. “But, yeah, I did feel threatened at times if I didn’t do what they wanted.”

The claims that Huntsman is making about her time on The View come as she is promoting her new podcast, I Wish Somebody Told Me, which she is co-hosting with her friend Lauren Leeds.

Huntman’s experience on The View echo what her bestie McCain recently revealed in her audiobook titled “Bad Republican.” The conservative co-host narrated that the moment Joy Behar told her on-air that she didn’t miss her, was when she decided it was time to leave the show. McCain had just returned from maternity leave and said she deserved respect from her colleagues, which she feels she didn’t get.

“The View is billed as being honest and open. It’s billed as an arena for women to share and discuss their views on politics and the most important topics of the day — an arena historically occupied by men. A space where women support — and respectfully challenge — each other. But the truth is that the environment of the show is toxic,” McCain says in an excerpt from her book shared by Variety.

McCain continued, “After giving birth, I didn’t feel like myself. I felt extremely vulnerable. Joy seemed to smell that vulnerability like a shark smells blood in the water, and she took after it. Why was this worth it to her? I will never know. But, so much for working moms looking out for each other.”

Huntsman is set to return to The View next month as a guest co-host. However, don’t expect McCain to sit with the panel again. According to the Republican pundit, it’s time for her to move on and see other people take on the conservative role.

“I’m actually really excited for other people to get to do it too. To me, it felt like TV grad school. It’s like four years of TV grad school and now I’m good,” she told Entertainment Tonight.
