The Actor Behind Snow White in ‘Once Upon a Time’ Starred in an Academy Award-Winning Disney Film
Once Upon a Time features Captain America: The First Avenger actor Sebastian Stan, Lost actor Emilie de Ravin, and Descendants actor Keegan Connor Tracy. However, one of the main characters, Snow White, is portrayed by Ginnifer Goodwin, who has a surprising role in a similar Disney film.
Ginnifer Goodwin portrays Snow White in ‘Once Upon a Time’
She’s oftentimes known as a gentle and kind woman, even when she’s under a spell. In this drama series, the actor portrays Mary Margaret Blanchard, who is actually Snow White, but she doesn’t know that at first.
In fact, a number of fairy tale characters have been transported to the magic-less Storybrooke, including Snow White, Prince Charming, and the Evil Queen. In 2016, Ginnifer Goodwin went from acting as Snow White to voicing another Disney character for the studios’ movie, Zootopia.
The actor portrays another starring role in Disney’s ‘Zootopia’
She’s off to make the world a better place, whether she’s portraying Snow White or Judy Hopps in the Disney animated film, Zootopia. As a small-town rabbit with big city dreams, Judy Hopps, voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin, worked hard, despite a few small-minded creatures, and earned a job as a police officer in Zootopia, where anyone can be anything.
Zootopia went on to receive recognition at multiple award shows, including the Oscars, where it picked up the award for Best Animated Feature. Additionally, the animated movie earned the same title at the Golden Globe Awards.
Ginnifer Goodwin was shooting ‘Once Upon a Time’ when she got the call
With the success and longevity of Once Upon a Time, this actor switched from her role as Snow White to her role as Judy Hopps. During one interview with Viva Veltoro, Ginnifer Goodwin explained her decision to sign onto Zootopia.
“To be honest, there was one word that convinced me that I needed to take this role and that was Disney. That’s the truth,” Goodwin said. “I was sitting in Mickey Mouse pajamas in my kitchen. I was pregnant. I was in Vancouver shooting Once Upon a Time and I got a phone call that I was being offered this job and I had never heard of Zootopia and I took it immediately.”
“And my representatives, who were all on the phone because they knew I’d burst out crying, which I did,” she continued. “My representative said, ‘Don’t you want to know anything about the character or the script?’ and I said, ‘Well, of course. Just accept the job first and then call me back.’”
All episodes of the drama series, Once Upon a Time, though at first available on Netflix, now made the switch to Disney’s streaming platform. To learn more about Disney+ and to subscribe, visit their website.
