Adam Brody’s ‘The O.C.’ Era Regret That Rachel Bilson Doesn’t Share
FoxβsΒ The O.C.Β was aΒ TVΒ series for the times. From the beloved characters to their relatable and entertaining storylines, audiences and viewers were instantly hooked onΒ The O.C.Β Still, despiteΒ the love of the show, star Adam Brody has one regret from the time. Rachel Bilson, however, doesnβt feel the same.Β
A closer look at Adam Brody and Rachel Bilsonβs relationship on and off the screenΒ
Adam BrodyΒ and Rachel Bilsonβs acting careers took off largely thanks toΒ The O.C.Β In the popular series, they playedΒ Seth Cohen and Summer Roberts. Seth has had a crush on Summer for years, and she finally starts to pay attention to him, thanks to the arrival of his housemate, Ryan Atwood (Ben McKenzie).Β
Seth and Summerβs romance remains a touchstone of the series. Their chemistry while filming was so organic it even ledΒ Brody and Bilson datingΒ for a few years. Despite calling it quits, the two actors remain friendly. In fact, Bilson told Brody in 2021, βI was never better than when I was acting with you.β
Brody regrets his βThe O.C.β-era fashion, but Bilson doesnβt
Of course, not everything that happened during the show was great. On a 2016 episode ofΒ The Late Late Show with James Corden, when asked about his fashion regrets, Brody said he wished he could take everything back βpre-2010β. While he focused primarily on dismissing his β90s fashion ala βthe Coreysβ and βVanilla Ice,β itβs safe to assume he might also be thinking of some of his early β00s looks.
Bilson, on the other hand, owns her fashion choices. This became clear when she appeared on an episode onΒ InStyleβsΒ βLetβs Unpack That.βΒ Holding up a photo from a 2003 event,Β Bilson broke down her blast-from-the-past style. Despite rocking jeans under a dress, Bilson reaffirmed her choice. βBy the way, totally cool with wearing that now,β she stated firmly. βEverything comes back,β she reminded viewers.Β
While acknowledging sheβs βolderβ now and her style has evolved, Bilson said, βIβm OK with it,β adding, βIβm not horrified.βΒ

Bilson and Brodyβs careers continued without one another, with her making strides on TV in shows likeΒ Hart of DixieΒ and him seeing some big-screen success withΒ Shazam!Β However, the pair reunited to discuss the show that made them famous.Β
Fans whoβve been craving a reunion can tune intoΒ Welcome to the OC, Bββ, Bilsonβs podcast with another former co-star,Β Melinda Clarke. The former couple took a stroll down memory lane for the first time sinceΒ The O.C.Β went off the air in 2007. βWe hadnβt really spoken since the show wrapped,β she toldΒ People. They previously caught up during a 2019 airport run-in that nearly broke the internet.
While Brody may regret his β00s style, clearly, the two share no animosity. βI donβt remember a lot of negativity surrounding myself and Adam,β Bilson said. βHe was just such an important person in my life,β she continued, βit was like just catching up with an old family member.β
