Adam Busby From ‘OutDaughtered’ Revealed Why His Marriage to Danielle Busby Was Suffering
There are a number of huge families on reality TV, and the Busbys are definitely a lovable bunch. Adam and Danielle Busby are well-known for having the only set of all-female quintuplets in the United States, and they have six daughters total, making for one seriously large group of women. And while we first caught the Busbys on OutDaughtered back in 2016, they’re coming back to our screens in mid-June.
Adam and Danielle appear to be the perfect couple, but Adam once got candid about how his marriage may have actually been going through some hard times. Here’s what he said.
Fans suspected Adam and Danielle Busby were having marriage trouble in the past
They may seem perfect on camera, but Adam and Danielle go through ups and downs just like every couple. And the strain of having six young daughters certainly could’ve taken a toll on their relationship. The parents have shared their busy lives with viewers before — and even something as simple as making a dentist appointment on time takes serious planning. Not only that, but one of the quintuplets has a health issue that also may have created extra tension between Adam and Danielle.
Hazel, the one quintuplet who’s seen wearing glasses, has nystagmus, a condition that causes the eye to make repetitive, uncontrolled movements. Hazel underwent eye surgery to correct the issue, but like all procedures, it came with hefty risks that included possible vision loss. Because Adam has spoken out about Hazel’s difficulties in the past, many thought her health issues could also cause Adam and Danielle to bicker behind closed doors.
Adam had postpartum depression that may have caused issues in his marriage
One of the reasons fans love the Busbys is because Adam and Danielle are transparent about what their real lives are like. And many were surprised Adam got real about his postpartum depression. People reports back in 2017 that Adam was speaking candidly about his mental health on OutDaughtered — and he also noted how his depression was affecting his relationship with Danielle.
In a clip from the show, Adam told his father, “But then you get through half the week and you realize you’ve barely told your wife ‘hi’ because you’re just so busy. And then by the time all the girls are down to sleep, you’ve got to clean up the kitchen, wash dishes. You’re just exhausted and done.” Adam later added that he didn’t “feel like” himself, which was causing issues in every important relationship in his life. “It’s caused some issues between me and Danielle, just because sometimes I want to check out,” he added.
Could the two be headed for a divorce?
With Adam getting so candid about his marital struggles and how difficult it is raising six young daughters, could this be a clue that even more marriage trouble is on the horizon for next season? Thankfully, we doubt Danielle and Adam are actually ready to call it quits on their marriage. The Hollywood Gossip notes one fan took to Twitter to question if the couple was divorcing, and Adam set the record straight. “Guess you will be a lifelong @TLC viewer. The D word isn’t in our vocabulary. I love my wife more than the day i said ‘I DO.’ We are the real deal,” he tweeted.
According to Danielle and Adam’s Instagrams, they seem to be working just as well together now as they were when OutDaughtered first began. They recently explained their decision to keep going with the show, too, and they’re happy to have so many people interested in their lives. We’re assuming if their relationship wasn’t so healthy, they wouldn’t greenlight another season of the show, too. Here’s to hoping the Busbys are as happy and healthy as they appear!
