Which actors are nominated for Golden Globes? What are fans saying about the nominees? Here’s what we know about this award show and its future winners.
Golden Globe nominees for ‘Best Actor – Drama’ include Adam Driver and Joaquin Phoenix
Known for his portrayal of Kylo Ren in Star Wars, Adam Driver earned a nomination for his role in Marriage Story. Other nominees in this category include Christian Bale (Ford v. Ferrari,) Antonio Banderas (Pain and Glory,) Joaquin Phoenix (Joker,) and Jonathan Pryce (The Two Popes.)
“These Golden Globe nominations are so right on. This movie is so great. I’m hoping it wins and hoping Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson win. I’ve never actually had hoped for a win from just watching a movie as this one,” one Twitter user said.
Others are rooting for the actor from Joker. One Twitter user wrote, “Golden Globes 2006: Joaquin won Best Actor Motion Picture Musical for Walk the Line. Fingers crossed he can take home a second Golden Globe tonight!!”

Nominees for the Golden Globes “Best Actress – Drama” include Avengers: Endgame actress, Scarlett Johansson, for her role in Marriage Story. Saoirse Ronan earned a Golden Globe nomination for Little Women and some predict she could win in this category. However, others took to social media, sharing their outrage that director Greta Gerwig did not receive a nomination.
“Me, learning that Greta Gerwig was not nominated for a Golden Globe, after making the best ever version of Little Women which is undoubtedly loving and modern and interesting unlike most period dramas and managed to make both Laurie and Amy likable and sympathetic characters an-,” one Twitter user said.
Other stand-out nominees at the Golden Globes include Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Meryl Streep
According to fans on Twitter, there are a few frontrunners of nominated at the 2020 Golden Globes. Of course, Big Little Lies and its cast picked up a handful of nominations, including “Best Television Series – Drama,” “Best Actress TV Series – Drama,” and “Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries, or Television Film.”
In the “Best Original Song” category, songs performed by Taylor Swift (Cats) and Beyoncé (The Lion King) are both nominated, along with songs from Rocketman, Frozen 2, and Harriet. (Taylor Swift presented this award last year, giving it to Lady Gaga for her role in A Star is Born.)
“Let’s stream and buy the Golden Globes [nomination] for Best Original Song, ‘SPIRIT’ by [Beyoncé]! This masterpiece deserves to be supported now,” one Twitter user said.
Nominees in the “Best Motion Picture – Drama” category include 1917, The Irishman, Joker, Marriage Story, and The Two Popes. Additionally, some artists and actors also earned nominations for the Grammy Awards, which takes place during January 2020. The 2020 Golden Globes takes place on Jan 5, 2020.
