Adam Levine Said Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s Romance Is ‘so Wrong It’s Right’
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s relationship blossomed behind the scenes on The Voice. The pair met as coaches and bonded over going through divorces at the same time. Adam Levine, who was also a coach on the show, said the relationship shocked him. He didn’t see how they fit together at first, but he thought the relationship worked well.
Adam Levine said Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s relationship surprised him
After Stefani’s marriage to Gavin Rossdale ended, she began dating Shelton. This surprised many of her fans, as she and Shelton seemed very different. Stefani acknowledged this, but said they had more in common than it may initially seem.
“It’s definitely two different cultures. But there are many similarities, in things that we love and our morals,” she told Glamour. “But it’s really fun when you can learn about so many new things and share those differences.”
Levine, who worked with Stefani and Shelton on The Voice, was among the people who felt surprised by the relationship. He said it worked well, though.
“If you had told me that Blake Shelton would be with Gwen Stefani, I would have told you you’re out of your mind,” he told Howard Stern, per NBC. “But it’s so wrong it’s right.”
Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s romance began on the set of ‘The Voice’
Stefani and Shelton began their relationship in 2015. That same year, both of them went through divorces. Their heartbreak was what brought them together. Shelton announced his divorce from Miranda Lambert to his fellow coaches, and Stefani informed him that she was going through the same thing.
“I won’t forget that day,” he told Billboard in 2016. “I looked over at Gwen — who I didn’t really know — and she had these huge tears in her eyes. I thought, ‘Wow, she feels super bad for me!’”
They began checking in on each other frequently. Before long, their friendship turned romantic.
“It went from that, to checking in on each other once a week through email — ‘This s*** happened to me, what happened to you?’ — to maybe three times a week, then every day, to ‘Hey, here’s my phone number if you ever want to text,’” he said. “Next thing I know, I wake up and she’s all I care about, and I’m wondering if she feels the same about me.”
Adam Levine is returning to ‘The Voice’ for another season
Shelton recently stepped away from The Voice, but Stefani is still a judge. Levine, who left the show after its sixteenth season to spend more time with his family, will return to the show in 2025.
“I miss [The Voice]. I really do miss it,” he said in 2019, per NBC. “But I wanted to stop at this point and be with my young family. I’m obsessed with them. I adore them in a way I never thought I could adore another person.”
Levine will appear alongside John Legend, Michael Bublé and Kelsea Ballerini.
