Adam Levine Says Blake Shelton ‘Can’t Afford Me’ as His Wedding Singer
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are getting married. One thing they talked about is possibly having Adam Levine perform as their wedding singer. But would Levine actually do it?
Blake Shelton wants Adam Levine to sing at his wedding
Levine and Shelton became good friends from working together on The Voice. Levine quit the show, but the country singer isn’t letting him off the hook when it comes to his wedding.
“I’ve kind of decided that I’ve been doing this a long time now, and I’ve got a lot of favors out there,” Shelton said on Late Night With Seth Meyers. “He may not like it, but Adam Levine’s gonna have to get the band together and come and play our wedding.”
He then joked about Maroon 5’s music video for “Sugar.” “I’ve already seen a music video where they crash people’s weddings and he owes me a lot for just putting up with him over the years,” Shelton said. “So I think we can get Adam to come be our wedding band.”
Miley Cyrus also offered to perform for them
Stefani and Shelton have many celebrity friends who can perform for them. Miley Cyrus recently threw her hat in the ring to perform on their big day.
Cyrus tweeted a video of her Tiny Desk performance. Stefani responded with, “talented geeezzzz gx.” Cyrus then tweeted, “When my hero’s [sic] tweet me I get horny.”
She then added, “ALSO @gwenstefani @blakeshelton I’ll be your wedding singer! I promise to be on my best behavior. Or worst. whatever you want! It’s your special day! Cheers to loving you both almost as much as you love each other!”
Cyrus was a coach on The Voice for seasons 11 and 13. There might be an interesting reunion of former coaches for their wedding. Levine is now revealing how he feels about possibly performing for the couple.
Adam Levine says Blake Shelton ‘can’t afford me’
There is still a question of whether Levine will actually take the stage for the couple’s big day. He was asked to give a percentage chance that he’ll actually perform by Sirius XM’s The Morning Mash Up.
“They can’t afford me,” he said with a smile. He later said, “They haven’t asked me yet.” The singer made clear that he’s still in contact with them.
“I would love to,” he said. “First of all, I was just literally texting with them. I love them so much. Just so funny you mentioned them because I just texted them 10 minutes ago, just like, ‘I miss you guys. I love you guys.’ Yeah, they’re the best, dude.”
Levine still thinks there is a slim chance that they’ll actually ask him to sing. “They won’t ask me, though. They’ll probably get, like, Luke Bryan or somebody,” he said.
Levine also said he watched Shelton’s interview with Meyers and thought, “Man, f*ck you, I’m not coming to play your wedding.” It looks like Levine isn’t booked for the gig. But he would do it if he was asked.
