‘Addicted to Marriage’: Kecia Wants a $30,000 Engagement Party, and Fans Think It’s a Huge Red Flag
Kecia from Addicted to Marriage has walked down the aisle three times. But she’s never had an engagement party. That’s something the TLC personality plans to change before she marries Ernst, who will be husband No. 4 for the New Jersey attorney. However, could her demands for an over-the-top pre-wedding bash give her fiancé cold feet?
Kecia from ‘Addicted to Marriage’ insists on a $30,000 engagement party
Kecia has big dreams for her engagement party. She’s envisioning an extravagant event at her home, which she’s dubbed “Casa Bella,” complete with valet parking, gold utensils, ostrich feathers, and a pianist in the foyer. The whole thing would cost around $30,000.
Ernst, who admits his “business is not where it was,” tries to persuade his bride-to-be that a more modest celebration at the country club would be a better choice. but she’s not having it.
“Do you want a Rolls-Royce or do you want a Cadillac?” she asks.
He says he’s happy with the Cadillac if that’s what he can afford.
“That’s settling. And I don’t settle,” she replies.
To cover the cost of Kecia’s dream party, Ernst considers selling the home he lived in with his late wife — an emotional decision — and moving in with his fiancée. However, Kecia is adamant that they not live together before marriage.
“Kecia wants to have this big party at Casa Bella and spend all this money,” he says. “I want to give her the engagement party that she wants, but I just can’t do it having both homes right now.”
Ernst says Kecia’s house is causing issues in their relationship
Ernst is prepared to sell his house in order to move forward with his relationship with Kecia, but his children have some reservations. During a dinner at their childhood home, one of his sons tells his father that the move is “bittersweet.” While they seem to trust that he’s making the right choice, they are worried about Kecia’s insistence that Ernst not be on the deed to Casa Bella before the wedding.
“You gotta be careful man,” one says. “Because you know Kecia’s a lawyer.”
Later in the Addicted to Marriage episdoe, Ernst admits that his relationship with Kecia has changed since she bought her lavish home. He’s helping her cover the cost of the house, and that’s also caused financial strain.
“I feel since this house came into our lives, it’s just consumed our relationship,” he says.
‘Addicted to Marriage’ fans says Kecia is throwing up red flags
Addicted to Marriage viewers think Kecia’s demands for an expensive engagement party and refusal to let Ernst move in pre-wedding (or be on the Casa Bella deed) are major red flags.
“That man better [run] NOW while he’s ahead…..,” one wrote on TLC’s Instagram.
Some implied she was in the relationship for financial gain.
“She does not love you …when the money runs out she will be gone….,” another commented.
Another person called Kecia “selfish and spoiled,” adding, “This guy should run while he still has a few bucks.”
Addicted to Marriage airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
