Adele’s highly anticipated fourth studio album is expected to arrive in 2021. The work will touch on many topics in the singer’s personal life that fans have been wondering about over the last few years.

One of the most significant issues Adele will tackle in the upcoming work is her divorce from charity entrepreneur Simon Konecki. But she didn’t record songs just to answer fans’ questions; she wrote them for her 8-year-old son, Angelo.

Here is what Adele has said about the divorce and what she wants her son to learn from the album.

The ‘Chasing Pavements’ singer got a tattoo to commemorate the cause of her divorce

Adele doesn’t directly blame astrology for her divorce from Simon Konecki, who she secretly married in 2016. But she does believe that the separation resulted from a particular planetary aspect.

“I hit my Saturn return,” Adele told Vogue. “It’s where I lost the plot.”

It takes about 27-32 years for planet Saturn to fully orbit the sun and return to where it was when you were born. “When that comes, it can rock your life,” Adele said. “It shakes you up a bit: Who am I? What do I want to do? What makes me truly happy? All those things.”

She has a new tattoo on her left wrist to commemorate the astrological event. It’s of planet Saturn, with a drawing of Los Angeles in the middle.

Since Adele turned 33 in May, she should just be coming out of her Saturn return.

Adele said of her divorce that ‘neither of us did anything wrong’

The “Hello” singer explained that there was no defining incident or specific turning point in her marriage that led to divorce.

“I was just going through the motions and I wasn’t happy,” she said. “Neither of us did anything wrong. Neither of us hurt each other or anything like that. It was just: I want my son to see me really love, and be loved. It’s really important to me.

“I’ve been on my journey to find my true happiness ever since.”

This explanation has been the most challenging for Angelo, Adele’s 8-year-old son with Konecki.

“My son has had a lot of questions. Really good questions, really innocent questions, that I just don’t have an answer for.”

The “Rolling in the Deep” singer said that her son asks questions like, “Why can’t you still live together?”

She said that she wants her upcoming album, which does not have an official title yet, to help her son understand the reasons for the divorce when he’s older.

“I just felt like I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness. It made him really unhappy sometimes. And that’s a real wound for me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal.”

Adele hopes her new album will show her son how to treat his partner in the future

The Grammy-winning musician wants her latest work to do more for her son than just explaining her divorce from his father. Adele wants him to use it as a guide for how to treat a romantic partner when he’s older.

“I wanted… the album to show Angelo what I expect him to treat his partner like, whether it be a woman or a man or whatever,” the singer told British Vogue. After going through a divorce, my requirements are sky-high. There’s a very big pair of shoes to fill.”
