Matthew Perry is a single man once again.
After a brief engagement, the Friends star has called it quits from his fiancée Molly Hurwitz. With their romance reaching its end, many are curious to know more about the woman who Perry was looking to marry, including how long they were together and what their age difference is.
Matthew Perry and Molly Hurwitz started dating in 2018
Perry (or as many like to refer to him, Chandler Bing) is very private when it comes to his love life. Though not much is known about his dating life and romantic history, he has been pretty open about his relationship with Molly Hurwitz.
The two started dating sometime in 2018. The literary manager confirmed this in a sweet Valentine’s Day post shared to her now-private Instagram in February 2020.
“Second year being my valentine, but his first as an Instagram influencer,” Hurwitz captioned a photo of Perry while joking about the actor finally getting on the social media platform. “HVD to my favorite.”
In November 2020, the Friends star revealed to People that he had popped the question to Hurwitz, and she happily accepted.
“I decided to get engaged,” he told the outlet, adding, “Luckily, I happened to be dating the greatest woman on the face of the planet at this time.”

Like many celebrity couples, Perry and Hurwitz have a pretty staggering age difference between them.
Though the details on when she celebrates her birthday are unknown, it has been revealed that Hurwitz was born in 1992.
As for Perry, he was 23 when Hurwitz was born as his parents, Suzanne Marie Morrison and John Bennett Perry, welcomed him on August 19, 1969. By the time Hurwitz was two, Perry was already an established actor in Hollywood, starring as one of the leads of NBC’s hit sitcom Friends, which ran from 1994-2004.
Though there’s more than a 20-year difference between them, Perry and Hurwitz proved that age is just a number.
Not long after Perry announced their engagement, Entertainment Tonight reported that the two had a lot in common, noting that they had instant chemistry.
“Matthew and Molly had a connection right off the bat. Molly has stuck by Matthew’s side and supported him throughout their relationship and he greatly appreciates having her in his life and wanted to take things to the next level with an engagement,” an insider told the outlet. “They are both so happy.”
The pair are also huge fans of each other, which Hurwitz proved in December 2020 when she helped Perry promote his Friends-inspired merchandise from his limited-edition line.
In addition to Perry sharing an Instagram photo of his younger love wearing a shirt that read, “Could this BE any more of a T-shirt?” (a take on one of Chandler’s infamous sarcastic catchphrases) but he also shared a snapshot of her rocking a baseball cap with the Chandler-inspired phrase “What is this, a baseball cap?” written on the front.

While it seemed like Perry and Hurwitz had a long future ahead of them, their romance has unfortunately come to an end.
On June 1, 2021, Perry announced that he and Hurwitz have called it quits, seven months after the actor popped the question.
“Sometimes things just don’t work out and this is one of them,” he said in a statement released to People. “I wish Molly the best.”
