Alex Trebek Sent a Heartwarming Halloween Tweet to 1 of His Most Creative – and Adorable – Fans
Long-time Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek doesn’t ever need to worry if he has fans. Now host of the quiz show for almost 40 years, its followers have come to equate Trebek with the program.
And sometimes the Canadian-born Trebek even returns the love, as he did recently in a tweet to a fan who has to be one of his most innovative – and winsome.
Alex Trebek’s gratitude for his fans
In his 2020 memoir, The Answer Is…, Trebek dedicated an entire chapter to his fans, expressing his great gratitude for the support and kindness shown to him through the years. Especially through his recent cancer battle, which he announced in 2019, the love from Jeopardy! fans has left the host surprised and humbled.
“I really can’t say enough how grateful I am for our show’s fans. I try to show that gratitude as much as possible,” Trebek wrote.
“To me, it is not optional. I see it as a requirement of my job. I’ve always believed that about my work in show business…People who come to a taping are entitled to something special. I want them to go home having had a good experience.”
Trebek recently had to kindly ask fans to love him less
This summer, the show’s Instagram account posted a request straight from Trebek. In the photo accompanying the post, the host is shown utterly swamped by numerous boxes and parcels from fans. As much as he disliked having to do so, Trebek had to ask fans to no longer send him packages in the mail.
“A note from Alex,” the post said. “As you can see, the volume of mail I’m receiving is getting out of hand! The thoughts conveyed show so much support and I appreciate that.”
“However, it’s now reached the point that I am overwhelmed and will no longer be able to respond to every request, and I will respond to none sent to my home. Please know that your good wishes are welcome, and I appreciate them all.”
Trebek’s tweet to a creative and cute fan
Just in time for Halloween, one of Trebek’s superfans, Evan Jenkins, posted a tweet that caught the television personality’s eye.
Evan, a youngster from Virginia, dressed up adorably for Halloween as the answer-and question show’s famous host, complete with his own head of gray hair and a Jeopardy! podium.
In the tweet, Jenkins’ dad said, “Meet our amazing 7 year old son Evan Jenkins with multiple disabilities from Hopewell, VA dressed up as his favorite game show host Alex Trebek for Halloween. Evan tunes in every night & weekends. We hope this reaches Mr. Trebek & makes him smile.”
The Jeopardy! host certainly did notice the tweet and sent one back via the show’s Twitter account saying, “A note from Alex: Evan, seeing you in your costume made my day. Thank you for making me smile, and I hope you have a safe and happy Halloween!”
