The craze of ravaging zombies on TV is far from over. Succesful Korean dramas like Kingdom and the movie Train to Busan paved the way for more creative and binge-worthy content. Netflix will premiere a new zombie horror K-drama with a unique twist that has not been explored before. The webtoon-based K-drama All of Us Are Dead centers on students trapped inside their high school with no way out as their peers and the outside world descent into zombie horror chaos.

‘All of Us Are Dead’ is based on a webtoon created by Joo Dong-geun

Like other well-known shows like The Walking Dead or superhero series, the concept and storylines first appeared in comic books or illustrations. For K-dramas, the spark of inspiration comes from popular online webtoons. Over the past few years, many hit K-dramas like Navillera, Itaewon Class, and more had a developed fan base thanks to their original webtoons.

Netflix’s upcoming All of Us Are Dead is no different and based on a webtoon by Joo Dong-geun. The 2009 webtoon is titled under Now at Our School. According to Variety, the webtoon was published until 2011 and has 130 episodes.

Lee Jae-kyoo and Kim Nam-su direct All of Us Are Dead. Lee has worked on a few K-drama in his career, from The King 2 Hearts from 2012 and Beethoven Virus from 2008. In 2019, he produced the thriller drama Trap.

The theme of zombie apocalypses is popular on TV and in movies. At first glance, All of Us Are Dead seems like a run-of-the-mill story. But with the growing success of K-dramas, All of Us Are Dead promises new and intriguing elements to dive into. Tagged as a coming-of-age zombie apocalypse, Netflix’s K-drama focuses on high school students.

A normal day at school turns into a battle of survival. A group of main characters and their peers get trapped inside their high school as they become ground zero for a viral outbreak. The main trailer reveals a young student bitten by an experimental mouse. A teacher warns his students that humanity has never beaten a virus.

The K-drama will explore the student’s willingness to survive as their closest friends become their worst enemies. As the high school descends into rabid chaos, it starts to seep out beyond the school’s grounds. Authorities look for an answer, and parents look for ways to save their children.
