All the Celebrities Who Have Feuded With Rihanna
Rihanna is an award-winning musician who has countless hit singles over the years. These days, she is also showing off her business-savvy side with the success of her company, Fenty.
Although Rihanna is clearly widely liked and supported, she also has her fair share of critics as well. Throughout Rihanna’s career, she has often made headlines for feuding with other celebrities. Read on below to learn more about who Rihanna has exchanged harsh words with.
Ciara
In 2011, Ciara and Rihanna got into a row on social media after Ciara talked badly about Rihanna on TV.
“I ran into [Rihanna] recently at a party and she wasn’t the nicest,” Ciara recalled on E!’s Fashion Police, as reported by the Daily Mail. “And it’s crazy because I’ve always loved and respected what she’s done with fashion and I’ve ran into her, you know, before but this time it was really … it wasn’t the most pleasant run-in.”
In response, Rihanna wrote on Twitter: “My bad Ci, did I forget to tip you? #howrudeofme”
The two singers exchanged more heated tweets between them before Rihanna decided to repair the damage. She wrote: “Ciara baby, I love u girl! U hurt my feelings real bad on TV! I’m heartbroken! That’s y I retaliated this way! So sorry! #letsmakeup.”
Ciara seemed to accept Rihanna’s apology, though it’s unclear whether the two of them did make up in real life or not.
Karrueche Tran
Rihanna had a famous on-and-off relationship with rapper Chris Brown. At some point when they were “off,” Brown dated model/actress Karrueche Tran.
In 2012, Rihanna posted a photo that was thought to be a diss at Tran. On Instagram, she shared a photo of a bag of rice cake with sunglasses and hoop earrings. Rihanna wrote in the caption, “Ima make u my b***h,” which is a reference to her and Brown’s song “Birthday Cake.” The rice cake bag was also thought to be a dig at Tran’s Vietnamese heritage.
In a now-deleted Facebook post, Tran said: “I’m Angeline [sic], you’re Jen. C’mon you see where Brad is at.”
Although it’s not clear if Rihanna and Tran ever ended their feud or not, Tran opened up about how dating Brown affected her a few years later. She told Keke Palmer, according to MTV: “In this case, my boyfriend is a celebrity whose ex-girlfriend is an even bigger [celebrity] … so, not only am I fighting a battle with her, I’m fighting a battle with her 14 million fans or whowever else.”
Charlie Sheen
In 2014, Charlie Sheen ran into Rihanna at a restaurant and wanted to introduce the singer to his then-fiancée. However, Rihanna turned him down, and Sheen went on Twitter to rant about the situation.
“I sent a request over to her table to introduce my fiancé Scotty to her, as she is a huge fan (personally I couldn’t pick her out of a line-up at gunpoint)” Sheen said, as reported by E! News. “Well, the word we received back was that there were too many paps outside and it just wasn’t possible at this time.”
Sheen continued to slam Rihanna, saying; “We’re to reschedule another random 11 million to 1 encounter with her some other night…? No biggie for me.” He also went on to take digs at Rihanna’s look, comparing it to a Halloween costume.
The following day, Rihanna tweeted a cryptic message directed at Sheen. “If that old queen don’t get ha diapers out of a bunch,” she wrote.
Sheen ended up apologizing to Rihanna a few years later on Twitter, but Rihanna did not publicly comment on it.
TLC’s Chilli and T-Boz
Chilli and T-Boz of the 90s sensation TLC found themselves feuding with Rihanna in 2014 after they allegedly slammed Rihanna for the way she marketed herself.
“Every time I see you, you don’t have to be naked. And it’s hard for us to say anything because every time we say something, ‘Oh TLC, oh they must be jealous,” T-Boz said when speaking to Australia’s Sunrise. ” We became the biggest-selling girl group of all time with our clothes on — that says a lot. It’s easy to sell sex.”
Rihanna responded by changing her header photo on Twitter to a scantily-clad picture of TLC, seemingly calling them out for being hypocritical.
However, TLC later clarified that their comment was not directed at Rihanna. Rather, the feud simply came about because of the way the interview was edited.
Azealia Banks
In 2017, Rihanna found herself in a political row with Azealia Banks. Rihanna is an outspoken Trump critic while Banks supports the president.
When Rihanna slammed Trump for his executive order that would ban immigrants from several countries, Banks hit back at her.
“As far as Rihanna (who isn’t a citizen, and can’t vote) and all the rest of the celebrities who are using their influence to stir the public, you lot really REALLY need to shut up and sit down,” Banks said.
On Instagram, Rihanna posted a photo of her making a kissy-face with the caption, “the face you make when you a immigrant #stayawayfromthechickens #iheartnuggets #saveourhens.” The hashtags are believed to be a reference to Banks’ admittance that she sacrifices chickens in her closet.
