William Larkham Jr. won Alone Season 11 – and $500,000 – after spending 84 days in the Mackenzie River delta in Canada’s Northwest Territories. But he could have lasted even longer. The 49-year-old fisherman from Labrador had 10 days worth of food stockpiled when the show ended, he recently revealed.

William was one of 10 survivalists competing in this season of Alone. Though his journey wasn’t always easy, he ultimately walked away with the show’s grand prize after second-place-finisher Timber Cleghorn decided to tap out on day 83.

Unsurprisingly, William was thrilled when his wife Jill snuck up behind him at his campsite to inform him he was this season’s winner.

“This is the biggest dream you could ever dream of,” he said. “And now it’s actually happening. I couldn’t be happier.

While William was overjoyed to win Alone and go home to his family, he could have stayed longer. In a video posted to his YouTube channel, he said that he still had a multi-day supply of food when he was finally evacuated.

“When we finished up I had about 10 meals left. It could have been, like, eight really large meals and two small meals. But I would have got 10 days out of it,” he said.

Not only did William have plenty of food left, but he also seemed confident he could have gone 100+ days, if necessary. His plan for day 85 was to move his gill net to a different location for fishing and set his rabbit snares in another area as well.

“I was going to move into some new ground, just to prepare to get the food for the next 10 days,” he shared. “That’s what I was doing. I never had no intention of massively storing a huge pile of food. I didn’t want to do that.”

William Larkham Jr. brought some of his fish home with him

So, what happened to William’s food supply after the Alone crew arrived to take him back to civilization? It didn’t all go to waste. William packed up some of his fish, along with a number of other souvenirs, to bring home with him.

“When I left … I had a fair-sized chunk of [inconnu],” he said. “And I had a couple of really nice-sized pieces of pike left.”

“I took the inconnu back with me,” he went on to say. “I cooked up some for the family when I first got back. The rest, I cut it up and vacuum-packed it. I’ve still got some left because I wanted to share it with some other family members.”

While William saved the inconnu, he was so sick of eating pike by the end of his Alone experience that he left that behind. But he doesn’t think it went to waste.

“I’m pretty certain Sassy found it,” he said, referring to the sneaky pine marten that kept raiding his food stash. “I mean, she had to. It was in her area and she was there all the time … I’m pretty sure that Sassy got to it. So that makes me feel good.”
