George Clooney is one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, and he and his wife, Amal Clooney, put on a united front. George and Amal instantly connected after meeting via mutual friends, and they got married in 2014. Unfortunately, insiders now suggest that Amal and George barely see each other and might be hitting a rough patch in their marriage.

George and Amal Clooney both work hard in their respective careers. Amal is a barrister specializing in international law and human rights, while George is hard at work with his acting career. The couple’s careers often put them in different locations, but George said in the past that he and Amal try not to have “huge gaps” between when they see each other.
“We’re able to manage, so far, between my work and her work and the things we’re doing; we’re able to manage it pretty well,” George said, according to People.
Unfortunately, a source recently shared that their careers may be pushing them apart, causing them to lead “separate lives.” George is relocating to New York City to star on Broadway while Amal stays at their Lake Como villa.
“They are both hardcore workaholics, so it’s like they’re in their own little bubble,” a source told In Touch Weekly in June 2024. “They are in two very different worlds 90% of the day. They’re leading separate lives.”
While the couple’s home base is in Italy, Amal “is often traveling back and forth [from London] for work, which can become chaotic,” the insider added. “She’s doing so much around the world that most people don’t even know about. Her career will never take a back seat to George’s career, and she made that clear to him very early on.”
George and Amal have 7-year-old twins. While the parents prioritize time with the kids, they’re “not necessarily” spending that time “with each other,” the source continued.
“They seem like the picture of bliss on the red carpet, and of course, they always gush about each other in public, but friends are wondering if they’ll make it,” the insider added. “A lot of Hollywood couples don’t.”
The couple reportedly had ‘challenges’ in their marriage, a source said
George and Amal Clooney seem like the perfect match, but they allegedly had challenges in their marriage.
“Like any marriage, they’ve had their challenges and needed to adapt to certain situations and challenges,” a source told Us Weekly. “It’s taken compromise, establishing boundaries, and a lot of patience to keep the relationship on track, but they’ve done just that.”
Despite any challenges George and Amal faced, they maintained their relationship by never going more than a week without seeing each other. “Our deal is that we can’t be more than a week apart,” George explained in an interview. “So far, that’s worked out pretty well.”
George Clooney said his proposal to Amal Clooney was a ‘disaster’
George Clooney said on The Drew Barrymore Show that his proposal to Amal Clooney was a complete “disaster.” The star planned the night, including music from his Aunt Rosemary Clooney and a dinner he made. He put the engagement ring in a box he wanted Amal to find by prompting her to grab it.
“I go, ‘I think there’s a lighter, could re-light the candle … I think there’s a lighter in that little box behind you,'” George said. “And she pulls this thing out, this little drawer, and there’s a diamond ring in there. And she looks at it, and she’s like, ‘There’s a ring in there.’ Like, somebody left a ring there years ago.”
Amal was confused by the proposal, leaving George on his knees for several minutes. “I literally said, ‘Listen, I really would like to marry you, but I also am not young, and I’ve been on my knee now, and I could lose a hip,'” he joked. Finally, she accepted.
