Amber Heard Said Jason Momoa Was ‘Allergic’ to Not Getting Attention on ‘Aquaman’
Amber Heard and Jason Momoa quickly got along on the set of Aquaman. However, that also included them discovering one another’s “annoying” quirks. Heard explained that Momoa was “allergic” to being ignored on the set of Aquaman. As a result, the books that she read took the punishment.
Amber Heard starred as Mera in ‘Aquaman’ because she is no ‘damsel in distress’
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon brought Heard onto the show as a guest to talk all things Aquaman. Host Jimmy Fallon wanted to talk to her about the character Mera, who leaves a big mark on the movie. He explained how the character has hydrokenesis and asked Heard to discuss her character and her superpowers for the audience.
Heard took on the role in Aquaman alongside Momoa because she liked that the character had agency and wasn’t a “damsel in distress” for a male superhero to save.
“My character has the ability to control water,” Heard responded. “So, she can use it for protection or a weapon, but basically it just looks cool. I play Mera. Mera is a princess, but more than a princess. She is a badass warrior queen. She’s fierce, she is a superhero in her own right. She is no damsel in distress. I like that.”
Amber Heard said Jason Momoa was ‘allergic’ to being ignored
Fallon quickly turned the conversation to talk about her Aquaman co-star, Momoa. The talk show brought the actor in for an interview previously and the host said that the actor intimidated him a bit.
“How many things did he break?,” Heard asked.
Fallon humorously responded: “He did break something over his leg. He did.”
“No joke, he always, always breaks something,” Heard said. “Look at him, he’s enormous.”
Heard had some information to spill about how she interacted with Momoa while filming Aquaman. She described him as desperate for attention and willing to interrupt more relaxed activities, such as reading.
“Jason’s allergic to being ignored,” Heard said. “He can’t sit still, so no matter what, he will push, prod, nudge, shove you, anything to get your attention. Especially if you enjoy a quieter activity like reading.”
The actor said that Jason Momoa ripped pages out of her books on the ‘Aquaman’ set
Heard took up a lot of reading while on the set of Aquaman, especially since there are long wait times in between scene set-ups. However, that relaxation didn’t last for very long. Heard said that Momoa ultimately discovered a way to interrupt her silence, but her books would be the target.
“On set, I like to read, and that just drives him nuts,” Heard said about Momoa. “He quickly adopted this method to give himself relief. He just adopted this method of ripping out the last pages of my book. Which is annoying. You get to the last like 10 pages and they’d just be gone.”
