Amber Portwood Reveals the Heartbreaking Aspects of Gary Wayt’s Disapperance
The dramatic end to Amber Portwood’s engagement to Gary Wayt was featured on the season finale of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. Fans of the series heard about Gary Wayt’s disappearance and then subsequent reemergence in real-time. The season finale, however, was the first time they learned exactly how Portwood felt during the lengthy ordeal. Portwood was deeply bothered by Wayt ending their engagement so suddenly and in such an extreme way, but she was equally traumatized by the online accusation that she had murdered her ex.
Amber Portwood rages at the people who accused her of murdering Gary Wayt
The Teen Mom: The Next Chapter finale was dramatic, and Amber Portwood’s segment was certainly the most intense. Portwood delved into the most heartbreaking aspects of the end of her engagement as the events unfolded. While Wayt disappearing into the night for “no reason” broke her heart, she later noted that there was an added layer to the situation. Portwood raged about everyone online who suggested she may have murdered Wayt.
In the Teen Mom: The Next Chapter season 2 finale, Portwood said that some of what she had seen written about her online was especially painful. She pointed to online theories that she had killed Wayt and then reported him missing as the most hurtful. Portwood noted that no one can imagine how it felt to be wrongly accused of murder on a public stage. Shortly after the mainstream media picked up the news of Gary Wayt’s disappearance, online sleuths began to spin theories about what could have happened to him. Several Teen Mom viewers suggested Amber may have made him disappear.
Why did he leave?
Gay Wayt appeared on just a handful of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter episodes. While his appearances weren’t particularly memorable, his departure was. Now, though, he seems interested in a much quieter life. Wayt has never come forward and explained why he left the vacation cabin he was sharing with Portwood so suddenly. He’s never revealed why it took him a week to contact the police. Wayt doesn’t seem interested in explaining why he felt the need to take such extreme actions.
Weeks after he turned up safe and sound, an insider who alleged to be associated with Wayt came forward and suggested that Portwood’s ex-fiance planned his getaway. The insider, who was not named, said that the Indiana native had secured an apartment in another state before vacationing with Portwood in North Carolina. They said that the relationship had turned toxic and was no longer good for Wayt’s mental health. Portwood has never responded to the story.
Wayt is allegedly living in a new state and is engaged to another woman. Portwood does not appear to be dating at this time. It is unclear if MTV plans to renew Teen Mom: The Next Chapter for a third season. The reunion has been canceled.
