Gary Wayt hasn’t been known to Teen Mom fans for very long, but he’s amassed a couple of nicknames since being introduced. First, he was known as Gary 2.0; later, they dubbed him Runaway Gary after Amber Portwood, his then-fiancee, reported him missing. Soon, someone will be calling Wayt their husband, but it won’t be Amber Portwood. Recent reports suggest Wayt is officially engaged to the new woman of his dreams just two months after he fled into the night. The news can’t come at a worse time; his proposal to Portwood is set to air on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter this week.
Gary Wayt is engaged to a new mystery woman
Gary Wayt moves fast, it seems. Just two months after he ghosted his then-fiance, Amber Portwood, he found a new woman to whom he could commit his life. Teen Mom Fanz reported that Wayt is set to walk down the aisle before the year’s end.
According to the Instagram account dedicated to Teen Mom news, Wayt proposed this week to his new lady in Seattle. It is unclear if Wayt was seeing his new love while still involved with Portwood. Wayt has yet to speak out since Portwood filed a missing person’s report for him in June. He is allegedly no longer living in Indiana, although it is unclear where he resides.
Why did Gary Wayt and Amber Portwood break up?
Gary Wayt’s proposal to Amber Portwood is set to air on Teen Mom: The Next Chapter on Aug. 22, but they have been broken up for months already. Portwood introduced the world to her new man earlier this year, and things appeared to be going well until June.
In early June, Portwood reported Wayt missing after he left a vacation cabin they were sharing in Bryson City, North Carolina. Reportedly he disappeared into the night without his phone. Wayt was found about a week later, in a different state. Police determined that Wayt had left of his own accord and was safe. Bryson City police released a statement that Wayt had been located on June 14. They did not provide additional details.
Wayt and Portwood did not immediately announce the end of their relationship. Still, an insider told Teen Mom Fanz that Wayt had secured an apartment away from Portwood before they visited North Carolina. They allege the breakup was planned, although Wayt’s sudden departure was not.
Portwood has not spoken about the end of her romance. She has yet to issue a statement regarding her former flame’s engagement rumor. It is unclear how many more episodes of Teen Mom: The Next Chapter Wayt will appear in.
