‘American Horror Story’ Season 10 Part 2: Theory Suggests ‘Death Valley’ is the Story Harry Gardner Wrote in ‘Red Tide’
Fans watching American Horror Story Season 10 are impressed with what they’ve seen from the show so far. Part 1 of AHS: Double Feature, “Red Tide,” features the Gardner family living in New England and their quest to become extraordinarily talented at their hobbies by consuming special pills. So, is American Horror Story Season 10 part 2, “Death Valley,” the story Harry Gardner is writing in “Red Tide”? That’s one fan theory — and there are plenty more.
‘American Horror Story’ Season 10 Part 2, ‘Death Valley,’ reportedly connects to ‘Red Tide’
American Horror Story Season 10 features two parts and totally separate storylines to create Double Feature. The initial trailers showed two distinct monsters. One was a pale, human-like creature with teeth seen underwater, and the other monsters were aliens. In the teaser, both monsters appeared to coexist, implicating to fans that the two parts, while separate, will still connect in their storylines somehow.
Part 1, “Red Tide,” takes place in Provincetown, Massachusetts. In American Horror Story Season 10’s premiere episode, “Cape Fear,” viewers met Harry and Doris Gardner as well as their daughter, Alma. Harry is a writer and takes “black pills” given to him for his writer’s block — but there’s a catch. By taking the black pills and increasing his creative juices, he craves blood. Alma also takes the black pills, and ultimately, Harry has to help sustain Alma’s thirst for blood as well.
As for “Death Valley,” we know it takes place in a desert-like environment and features aliens as the main monsters. And Leslie Grossman from “Red Tide” verified to Entertainment Tonight that there “are threads” between part 1 and American Horror Story Season 10 part 2.
Fans have theories regarding how ‘Red Tide’ and ‘Death Valley’ connect — and 1 theory surrounds Harry Gardner
So, how will American Horror Story Season 10 part 2 connect with part 1? Fans may have to wait and see exactly how the two stories intertwine, but there are plenty of theories.
In “Cape Fear,” viewers are introduced to Harry’s love of writing and his dream to become more successful. Now that he’s taken the black pills, he’s producing the best work he’s ever made thus far in his life. Some fans suggest part 2 could be the story Harry’s currently writing.
“I think the second half is the story that Harry wrote,” a fan commented on AHSCrave’s Instagram.
“Could be wrong but I have a theory that Death Valley is the story [Harry] has been writing all this time,” yet another fan guessed.
Others think the black pills contain alien DNA.
“Alien blood/DNA is an ingredient in the pills, we’re calling it now,” another fan commented.
“Black pill … black oil … alien blood??” another fan suspected.
“Alien DNA,” another fan commented, “Maybe because in [the] teaser they said that they need to create part-human, part-alien[s], and since aliens are known by their intelligence, the pill turns every talented person into a great person.”
‘American Horror Story’ Season 10 release date for episode 4 and how many episodes left of ‘Red Tide’
“Cape Fear,” “Pale,” and “Thirst” gave American Horror Story Season 10, “Red Tide,” a strong start. Now, episode 4, “Blood Buffet,” is slated to give fans even more information about the Provincetown residents. Episode 4 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2021, at 10 p.m. ET on FX. It streams the following day on Hulu.
So, how many episodes remain in “Red Tide?” Part 1 of Double Feature reportedly has six episodes total. “Death Valley” has four episodes. In total, the season ends with 10 episodes. The “Red Tide” finale will reportedly air on Sept. 22, 2021.
